It's a free market. Apple is free to change their policy if it is hurting them. If it's that bad, Apple shouldn't release one and then wait 3 weeks to release the other. Release both at the same time to put a stop to that.

Why don't they? Air is ready now, and they want to make money now. It's just part of the cost of doing business. No reason to call people disgusting when Apple freely allows it.

Its all Apple's fault. If Apple sets up a reasonable return policy, and I choose to abuse it--then it is Apple's fault. There is a complete lack of indiviidual moral agency--thats for suckers. I'm getting mine--five times over and returning it four. Damn the waste. Its such a loser attitude by people who produce nothing.

Return all of the iPad Airs so there will be more refurbished units quicker :)

The iPad Air is looking to be the most disappointing iPad release thus far. Quality control issues, bumped up specs without proper software support, etc. Apple needed something new to sell to the masses for the holidays. Steve would never have allowed this device to hit the shelves.

You do realize that Apple is an oem and that a return isn't a straight loss, right? Apple isn't losing as much as you seem to think.

If I'm returning to get the mini, Apple still winds up with my money.

Apple will surely fix ios7 soon...

People have been saying that since the first developer release, and we're still waiting.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Of course you are: because you live in era of profound narcissism and entitlement. Whats Apple's is yours, because Apple has "so much". Its the same ethos as the occupy movement.

Apple's claim to wealth is great design and craftsmanship. Yours is a sort of consumer incontinence that treads on their graciousness.

Struggling to work out if you are having a dig at me or not.........either way I stand by what I said.

Without the consumer Apple is worthless.

"consumer incontinence that treads on their graciousness"?!?!

So you're the reason people hate Apple and Apple users...

Anyway, Apple gave me the opportunity to give them money and I got an iPad Air. I know this makes me sound entitled and narcissistic, but even though the Air is a fine product, I think a Retina Mini may fit my needs better.

So I'm going to return my iPad Air. Luckily, Apple is less pretentious than its defenders so I think they'll still be gracious enough to allow me to give them my money when the Mini is released.

Some of your money. perhaps--minus losses taken selling your unit as a refurb.

Why not assess your needs before purchasing and save everyone time and money? Because you feel entitled to try the Air at Apples an expense and then return it. I would never do that. Its hard to argue whats "wrong" in a culture defined by moral relativism, but your actions are clearly wasteful.

I wonder how many of these MR posters go about buying cars.

Oh come off it already. Apple didn't get where they are today via your defense. They know what they are doing and would change their policy in a heart beat if they needed to.

Case in point: they are now repairing phones rather than straight swapping them out.

Plus, they make plenty of money on a refurb still. They would rather you buy on a whim, and risk you returning it, rather than you NEVER buy at all.

Return policies (in the US) are nothing new and I highly doubt you are this annoyed by people who would return a T-shirt purchased in the wrong size or a camera that was underwhelming. So how does it being an iPad somehow trigger an emotional response?

In no way does this affect you personally so the fact that you seem personally affected by this is sad.

For those of us not in the US, or some other easy-return country, your examples are perhaps more amazing than the ipad. Can you really take back a tshirt, which presumably youve had on your body, because you didnt bother to try it on in store?

Can you really take back a camera because you didnt do enough research, and found it underwhelming (in the absence of some technical fault)?

Amazing! You guys have it good!

Apple and other stores can change their policy.

Reality is, they try to set policy for those with HONEST and REASONABLE reasons for returns. Good customer service.

Sadly, there are those that think nothing of getting something on trial and then returning. Those folks do impact what the rest of us pay, and eventual changes in return policies. Those are bad customers.

There has to be balance between Good Customer Service and Bad Customers. That is difficult.

Agree. Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should - especially when it ruins it for other people.

It used to be that you needed to keep the tags on it, but now most stores do no questions asked returns.

Ordered mine on launch day and got it the following Monday. Perfect! Love mine a whole lot :)

More for the rest of us :D I am happy with the extra storage 128gb. It's easier to carry and it's ready for 64 bit apps. Granted low power 64 bit apps.
