Why square but no 16:9 option in camera?

Whats the point of the new square camera option? I can't think of any reason to use it.
But why isn't there one for a 16:9 mode instead?! It would be great to have pictures in fullscreen on the iPhone/iMac/TV Screen.
Every Point n Shoot Camera has this option these days.

Why do I need an Instagram clone in the native camera app? If I want Instagram-like pictures I use the app for that.

That's a film format. It provides nice composition possibilities.

Of course, you could just take the full frame and crop in a photo editing program, but you wouldn't be composing with that view when you take the picture.

If you want 16:9, it's easy enough to crop it to Aspect 16 x 9
