He's simply reacting to the OVER-reaction against the police in general vs. the specific cops who are actually guilty. Doesn't make him a racist at all. I don't know why people throw logic out the window on these issues in their haste to accuse others of horrible things. People throw words like "racist" around WAY too loosely.

THIS!

As in every profession or segment of the population there are X% of complete a**holes! We are constantly reminded that you cannot blame the many for the actions of the few... except when it comes to law enforcement or smokers, in that case you not only are expected to hate them all but you need to stand upon every soap box you have and proclaim it to the masses for fear that you yourself will be labeled a sympathizer.

If one is going to take sides, a simple blurb acknowledging his death and that is was wrong goes a long way.

The problem is even THAT is not enough for some people. If the other person doesn't see things 100% their way with no other commentary, then they're not satisfied. That's why it's just best not to judge based on what wasn't said and instead judge on what was said.

In my example this is exactly what I did, so I chose to unfollow that person.

However, it feels like we're going off topic here and getting into a political discussion that really wasn't intended as part of this thread. My apologies to the mods, I'll understand if they shut this one down lol.

I don't know his friend, but would put money on the fact that he DOES acknowledge that. I see a lot of "jumping on the bandwagon" mentality with this current situation by spreading hate and injustice, which is supposedly what they are against.

I think pretty much everyone agrees an injustice was done (and even more injustices in reaction by looters and rioters), but some people lose perspective/balance and make inflammatory statements and accusations in reaction, and then people react to THAT with other inflammatory statements and accusations, and it becomes a vicious cycle.

(I think the user in your quote is the wrong one... should it be me?)
But that's what I don't like of how the political conversation is going; I am pretty sure that @ericgtr12 is not basing his judgment of the individual on a simple picture on IG. There is usually more behind it.
The fact is that almost everything is an over-reaction after a certain point. Like I said, there is no denying that Floyd was murdered by a coward. There is no denying that it's worth looking into police practices. But guess what? The conversation is now among teams. "Defund/Disband PD's!" "BLM's supporters are all criminals!". I mean... for f- sake can we understand that we have to work together to solve the problems?

Agreed :) Fault is mine my friend.

Yes, and it's not limited to race relations with the police either. All the time on YouTube videos involving police I see derogatory comments and assumptions people make simply because the people in questions are cops and by default (in their mind) guilty until proven innocent. And believe me, I'm no police apologist. I just call it like I see it, good or bad, but what I don't do is pre-judge.

Not sure how it happened, but I fixed it. Thanks!

Then we'll have to disagree that stating "I stand with the police" (which is a general statement, not referring to the bad ones) is racist. I don't believe it is. Not unless he said something else that warrants that label. Anyway, we've both had our say, and I'll drop it now.

Cancel culture is widespread and toxic.
Fascist style suppression of voice lol and you know I am not joking if you learned a bit of history at least in Euro school standards.
The funniest thing is people throw this word/accusation a lot yet you can clearly tell they have no idea they are actually propagating similar ideology lol 🤯

I do not blame MR for closing discussions on subjects like that.
There's no point as sooner or later the mob will arrive and will put them in cross-hairs for some dumb reason.
