I just don't care for the look of the space gray. For me, it's too industrial-looking and a bit on the drab side. I've had 2 black iPhones and 2 white ones and much prefer the white-fronted ones. MUCH.

That would be a sweet combo!

Right? I guess I could get the space gray and put the new gold case on it...although I'm not a huge fan of spending $30 on a case when I have a perfectly good one from my 5 that I'm 95% sure will fit the dual LED flash.

When you search that interweb thingy for space grey two things pop up a lot.
The new iPhone and BMW cars, is this a hint that those two are coming up with something new in the near future?
Apart from that I do quite like the space grey, but am not sure if I would buy it after the problems with the black 5.

Personally I love Space Grey. Even when the rumor mill was suggesting that it would be offered as a fourth "Graphite" option, I was planning on going with that one over Slate. Not to mention experience with my launch day Slate iPad mini has lead me to believe that "scuffgate" is/was a very real problem.

If the slate black were available, I would get it, but the gray is too light for my tastes that it made me consider going white/silver. What eventually pushed me to decide in favor of white/silver though is iOS 7; there's an awful lot of white in the screens that I've seen so far, and I think that would look better on a white phone than on a black phone.

I could talk about apple iphone colors after I see them in person till then, I like the space grey on picture :D

I'll trade my iphone 5 black/slate for a space grey iphone 5s for those who don't like the grey

I currently have an iphone 5 slate, in my opinion they should go back to the all glass back like the 4.

I really like the looks of my wife's all black 5 & I am disappointed that they are doing away with it, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

doesn't make much a difference for me since i will have a case covering the rear. Don't get me wrong i love the slate colorway, but i'm more concerned with the hardware inside the phone for the 5S.

Some love it, but there seems to be plenty of people hating on the space grey. Me personally, I would never get the gold or silver because I can't stand a white front. Black makes much more sense.

Slate did look awesome, but grey looks just as good. And if it means reducing/removing scuffgate, I'm all for it. The gold and silver look cool and all, but the space grey is still the closest thing we have to black.

Apple could release a phone that had every color in the rainbow and people would complain that they left out a clear option.

That's a good theory. I may have to take a look at that. But for a long time, most people have preferred a black front on iOS devices because it's better for most content that people view.

I actually like how the grey looks like on the side of the 5s. And like I said earlier, it's the only color option on the 5s that gives us a black front. And I think that's what a lot of people are looking for.

I do like the other colors, just prefer the grey. Which I think is better looking than the slate. The silver looks similar to a Mac, though.

I've held the space grey 5S and can say it looks great in person. Wait til you have it in your hands.

Yes a very tyrannical regime that doesn't offer black.

They realized that the black doesn't hold up well when scuffed and so they just went with a lighter shade that won't look as worn when the coating comes off.

http://www.anodizing.org/Anodizing/what_is_anodizing.html

What is Anodizing?
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Aluminum is ideally suited to anodizing, although other nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized.

The anodic oxide structure originates from the aluminum substrate and is composed entirely of aluminum oxide. This aluminum oxide is not applied to the surface like paint or plating, but is fully integrated with the underlying aluminum substrate, so it cannot chip or peel. It has a highly ordered, porous structure that allows for secondary processes such as coloring and sealing.

If its scuffs so easily as mentioned in numerous posts, Apple's anodising process is not up to par.

I generally like the black front, but iOS7 might look better with white front. All images for iOS7 on Apple's site are with white iPhone.

I've had a slate 5 for almost a year and there are no marks on it. I don't use a case at home, and when I go out, I use one of the floppy rubber cases that look like a gameboy - works like a charm and comes off and on easily - and it protects the 5 - I have dropped it once or twice and no marks whatsoever. I like the deep black - I'll withhold judgement until I see the grey in person.

I think it's because a large proportion of those in the space grey camp would rather have the slate/black, and maybe resent it for not being black. I think the space grey is a nice colour - until I see a photo of it up against the slate. With the white/silver I don't think it's a change at all (correct me if I'm wrong), and anyone disliking white/gold hasn't lost an option because of it, they just don't like the newest option.

Easily the best colour in the current lineup, though the slate colour of the 5 was pretty cool.

White is for posers, and gold will be for girls with massive bags who take duckface pictures in club bathrooms.

(yah I know that was a dick comment :p)

in a recent poll held at macrumors the grey is clearly the favorite.

i think people who bash the grey are mostly those who would prefer the black one over it, but still prefer the grey over the newer colours.

Black was a nice color. Space Grey will have to do. Most people put a case on their iphones so you're really not going to see the space gray.
