I just don't get the hype on this forum.

It's Apples weakest IOS product line at the moment. Runs a two year outdated A5 chip and no retina display which has been in ipod touch line for 2+ years now.

It's small "wow"..get a full size Ipad as you are missing out. Ipad mini will be forever a poor mans Ipad..as for people saying it's small ect..wow i'm enjoying my Iphone 5 which is much better. :D

You put zero thought into this rant.

I've read heaps of posts how it's perfect for certain people.

It's cheap that's it..seriously people should consider a second hand Ipad over this one.

Look beyond specs and price... think about the user experience and you might get it.

Some people want an Apple 7.9 inch iPad - never has this size be available as an apple product. People are excited to try it out. Duh!

better size for reading novels

better option for kids

easier to stuff in a jacket or purse

perfect for in-car GPS turn by turn

shut yo mouf, boy

People are going on as if it's "better" than the larger Ipad (I mean feature wise)..

It's not though. My Ipad does alot more than Ipad mini.

no one says it's better than the 9.7"

it just meets different needs

are you mental? :D

Books ..yes but only small books paper size..hopeless for large novels + magazines.

GPS ? Iphone does the job much better and is more the same size as sat nav screens.

There is no need for a 7" tablet.

Only people mad enough to pay for it. Profit that's all.

Depends on what feature you are talking about.

iPad mini key feature: more portable size

iPad 4 key features: retina display, CPU/GPU, bigger size

different experience, but I'd suspect retina display as a feature will be gone in the next 1 or 2 refresh... so it will come down to CPU/GPU, and size as main factors.. (and whatever Apple comes up with later).

Camera and processor will be faster in the larger Ipad.

You =/= everyone.

You don't need it doesn't mean other people don't need it.

Your problem is self-centric thinking.

What you need to do is think hard and come up with reasons why an iPad mini would be good for, and where your big iPad may not be so useful and you will answer your own question.

Use your brain :)

Camera and processor will be faster in a professional camera.

Are you arguing for the sake of arguing?

Make the list, and compare it side by side and answer your own question.

I disagree that you've read heaps of posts, otherwise you'd know that there are a lot of people who want a smaller device, and price is NOT a factor.

You've come at this confusion (of YOURS) in such an offensive way, like people who might think differently are so stupid or ignorant or lacking rational thought, so why in the world would anyone want or feel a need to have one of these devices?

I've got advice for arrogance and arrogant attitudes like yours - your requirements and criteria in devices are NOT mine, get *********g over yourself.

I bought one because I can...Dont even need it just want another toy to play with...Simple as that

I seriously think we are talking to a troll :)

It's already been said, specs don't necessarily equate to usability. For some of us there is more value in the mini's smaller size than there is in features we may never miss. My iPad 2 has yet to choke on any of the apps I use, and the lack of a retina screen means the added performance of the A6X is not needed. Performance wise the mini should meet my needs and the smaller size and lighter weight is the upgrade Im looking for. There are certainly good reasons to choose the 4th gen over the mini, getting hung up on specs is not one of them.

While iPad mini is based on iPad 2, it does bring one key improvement not found on 9.7" iPads (including 4th generation): GF2 (second generation Glass/Film) integrated touch screen. 5th generation iPad will most likely adopt this screen type for thinner profile, less reflection, and reduced weight.

iPad mini:iPad = MacBook Air:MacBook Pro

I have no doubt that both iPad mini and MacBook Air will soon adopt retina screen. But it is worth keeping in mind that both iPad mini and MacBook Air are all about portability. It is not yet possible to make them small and light with retina screen and faster processor.

If portability is not a factor for you, then you should pay more and get 9.7" iPad. Ditto for retina MacBook Pro.

I don't think he owns an iPad...

Yeah that statement made me go  I guess he thinks that all ebooks are PDFs without reflow capability? LOL. I guess if it's not a paperback-sized book, you can't read it on iPad mini! Clearly, the screen is too small for large novels.
