Its an interesting product but I have no use for one. Between an ipod touch 4, iphone 4, kindle fire, galaxy note and ipad2 I couldnt find any reason to consider the ipad mini over the ipad4. It does look cool tho and if I had a smaller phone and didnt have my ipad2 I would consider one.

You're starting to become one of the most ANNOYING thread starters/posters in this forum. FOR ONCE you need to start looking with logical eyes and not in your own view of what Apple products should be. You make it sound like all items should be tailored to what you think it should be.

Different genders, different ages, different salaries, different purposes, different preferences, different needs, different wants. Apple saw this (plus the revenue possibilities) and created the mini to cater to a niche (albeit large) crowd.

If you can't see the logic behind this move, then I hope you never own a company.

I have yet to see any of your threads or posts have legitimate points to your claims. You're not a "core fan" of Apple as you tout. You're a "core iDevice" fan and nothing more. Start opening up your eyes and mind.

You see the mini as a poor man's iPad? I see you as a bitter man that can't afford one and also afford upgrading to the iPad 4 that you keep bashing. You've got about a billion iPad 4 bashing bitter threads. My little boy is going to love his iPad mini when we pick it up next week along with my iPad 4.

The mini will be a success and my little 4-year old is going to love it.

People like you will apparently never understand that price isn't the only consideration. Lots of people want the iPad experience in a smaller and lighter form, yet larger than a cellphone.

The OP doesn't understand anything period. All he can do is bash the iPad 4 and the mini. Everyone's already caught on to his antics on these boards.

I just don't get the hype on this forum.

It's Apples weakest IOS product line at the moment. Runs a two year outdated A5 chip and no retina display which has been in ipod touch line for 2+ years now.

It's small "wow"..get a full size Ipad as you are missing out. Ipad mini will be forever a poor mans Ipad..as for people saying it's small ect..wow i'm enjoying my Iphone 5 which is much better. :D

I find your ignorance extremely offensive. I ordered 2 minis. Does this mean I'm poor? I also own an iPad 3 as well so I don't understand your philosophy.

Books ..yes but only small books paper size..hopeless for large novels + magazines.

GPS ? Iphone does the job much better and is more the same size as sat nav screens.

There is no need for a 7" tablet.

Only people mad enough to pay for it. Profit that's all.

That's crazy talk. You certainly don't know what you are talking about.

Um. Wow. This thread is pretty ill-conceived. Anyone who thinks the iPad 4 can do more than the iPad mini is absolutely wrong. All iPad apps are designed for both resolutions already. There is simply no need for an A6 processor due to the lack of a retina display. This is a FIRST GEN iOS device. Apple releases work in steps, to achieve maximum profits per year. It's the reason they're so successful, and the reason they have the ability to push new innovations/steady updates for 2+ year old products.

Personally, I'm picking up an LTE mini over the iPad 4, because the iPad 4 design is still thicker/heavier than the iPad 2/mini, and I'm not trying to carry a heavy ass iPad along .. my RMBP15 is big/heavy enough. The iPad mini fits in a coat pocket, and conveniently replaces the need for a smartphone. Gonna pick me up an unlocked Fujitsu super-flip phone, waterproof with 16MP cameras and rotating hinges... HDMI. puts modern smartphones to shame, really.

It'll fit in my gf's handbag.

Therefore she can take it to work

Therefore she can work on her commute

Therefore she spends less time working at home

Can't do that with the big iPad, of which we have 2

Try to think before posting drivel

our current Apple kit for a family of 4 is 2x iphones, 2x ipod touch, imac & ATV.

I love my daughters kindle for reading on but would hate to read on an ipad

My other daughter has an 8inch arcos which for me does all the stuff I want at home but weighs in the same as an ipad so reading for long would be a pain. Plus it doesn't link up with the imac/atv

Been toying with the idea of an ipad/tablet for a while. But there is no one solution to fit my requirement and I can't justify buying a kindle for books, kindle hd for colour portability and ipad 3 for retina display. So its about compromise
I want one tablet to meet most of my requirements and the mini does that.

Time will tell if it is a good alternative to the kindle for books but then that goes for any colour display tablet.

As for it not being good for large novels - i'm yet to read more than one word at a time

no good for magazines - don't think any tablet can beat a magazine

on paper its the most useable apple tablet and that's the selling point for me. I'll use it everywhere.

Because some have longed for a 7" tablet for a long time. So much so that they've even gone over and bought an Android device. Now that there is an overpriced iPad, it is possible that they will return to their walled garden. I for one know if I needed a 7" tablet that I would be jumping on the iPad because it just fits with all other Apple devices I have.

Aside from games, what apps require a higher end processor/GPU? For those of us not using the iPad for games, those specs mean little to us.

And I would think it is obvious why some people are eager for a mini. Size. So, no they aren't missing out on the full size iPad or going for the poor man's iPad. Different people... different requirements.
