My Mighty Mouse has gotten a little messed up. (See the blog in my sig for full detail) I'm going to take it to the store this weekend and try and get it replaced under warranty.

I still like it, it can just get a little annoying.

I used to have a few problems with my mightly mouse, but I just make sure my hands are clean, i.e. don't use it whilst eating food. I've had it for about 4 months and after not eating whilst on it, have had no problems.

WOW!

I've heard a few moans about the mighty mouse but never this many!

I got mine the day they came out and use it at work. 8+ hours a day 6 days a week. Only had to clean it twice. Maybe the first ones were built better?

Perhaps someone ought to go to petitiononline and let apple know you want the mighty mouse sorted?

Hmm this thread makes me think twice about getting the wireless MM with wireless keyboard. I might end up getting something from Logitech

Ive had the Logitech MX1000 when it first came out and the thing worked horribly!!!
It finally stopped being chargable after two weeks (the LED would show red no matter how long you charge it for). Then the thing just stopped working. The pointer was so sensitive on any setting, it would jump all over the place just by sitting there. I heard several complaints about the same thing and just threw away the mouse. Has anyone had any of the above issues with the MX1000 now days? I was thinking about getting the revolution from logitech but the side scroll looks too funky and dont know enough times where I would actually use it!

Thats why I like the MM, it looks simple, can be left/right clickable, and its a ball for a scroll. I like that idea.

I had to take my old wired MM apart all the time and clean it.

My new BT MM has been pretty good. I occasionally flip it over and run the ball around on a piece of paper and it seems to keep it in good condition.

I do wish it was better at recognizing right clicks better.

Well, I read the thread as well as several reviews on the web. I decided that for my new MBP, I might as well just get the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse, since I'll be using this thing at the library and in classes a lot. I would rather not lug around a bigger mouse (I generally prefer larger mice, since I have big hands...I think the MX Revolution and the old MX700 were perfectly sized, if not a tiny bit smaller than I would like). Anyways, I got the Mighty Mouse so that I could just throw it in my bag if I was knew I would be at the library for several hours. I love the fact that it works with the built in Bluetooth, so all I really need to carry is the mouse. No adapter or cables or anything like that.

So far, I have to say I'm pretty pleased with it. It's fairly comfortable for such a small mouse, and the Left, Middle, and Right click differentiation works perfectly for me. I've yet to miss a right click. I think it's because I tend to use my index finger for the scroll ball, so it takes it off the left part of the mouse when I want to right click.

My only gripe is how difficult it is to squeeze the side buttons. I've got plenty of strength in my fingers (saxophone player) and I think it's ridiculous how hard it is to get the buttons to activate. Is there any way to change the sensitivity, or maybe open up the mouse and loosen up whatever it is that's holding those buttons in place? I have it set to display my Dashboard, which I think is pretty neat, but I don't think I'll be using the side buttons much until I figure out how to activate them without repositioning my hand and squeezing the mouse to the point where I think I might break it.

Also, I was kind of hoping that I would be able to use the side buttons separately. I really miss having back and forward buttons for when I'm web browsing.

Aside from the side buttons, the mouse is great. The scroll ball is as good as any wheel (except maybe the wheels on the MX Revolution, but I wouldn't expect Apple to implement something like that, since they're not a dedicated input device manufacturer).

I use the MM all the time. One at home and then one i travel with and have never had any problems. I want to upgrade to a wireless MM, but just havent gotten to the point where I want to spend the money just to get rid of the cord.

:( I just bought a wireless Might Mouse today. I hope mine works out okay. It's a lot different from any other mouse I have ever used. It's the shape that makes it so different. It doesn't really sit into the palm of my hand like my other mouse for my PC does. I'm happy with it so far. I like to the look of it.

I really like the mightymouse.

the only two negative things I can think of, which are minor, are:
1. i don't use the side buttons at all, because it is just "unnantural" for me to put my hand in a posture to click them.
2. i don't like that the scrolling software stops scrolling when the cursor is over an ad in safari.

I like the scroll ball on the mm, but the ergonomics of the mouse in general is not very comfortable. Also, it takes a lot of effort to click, and you cannot click that fast with the mouse.

I like my BT MM a lot. However, it really is bad for games. It simply misses the right click too often. Not sure why this doesn't happen in other apps, but it got me killed in warcraft III more than once today. :(

I have a Mighty Mouse here at home and one at work, no problems at all. I don't use the multi click option much, personally prefer single button mice, scroll button works as new. I recommend keeping a micro fiber cloth near by for cleaning.

It is not a bad mouse, it just has a few issues that need to be revised.

I really like the idea of a touch sensitive scroll feature for the mouse.
I really hope apple introduces something like that in the future. I think it would be revolutionary.

On a side not, I absolutely adore the Apple Keyboard. It is so damn SEXY and feels so nice when I type. It is a perfect angle and is very comfortable to type.

Well, I haven't had too many problems with my wireless Mighty Mouse (bought Sept. 2006). The ball ahs stuck a couple times, but quickly is fixed. Maybe I'm just really patient with it. I personally do actually like the Mighty Mouse.

Anyway, in response to the comment about the mouse being phased out for voice recognition (this was jest, I know. I think? Hm.), that would probably be just plain too weird.

I was in Best Buy the other day and saw a pretty cool concept from hp. Now, I am no fan of PCs or Vista, total Mac user my whole life, but I do have to appreciate the idea of hp integrating an idea from the iPhone into their ugly attempt of an iMac. Now, if iMacs came with this touch screen, that would rock. I would totally love browsing my music in CoverFlow.

I got a Wireless Mighty Mouse in December and I really like it. I haven't had any major problems with it. The only thing is that sometimes it will sense a left click when I want to right click, but I havn't had any problems with the scroll ball, maybe I'm just lucky.

Multitouch for desktops!

Yes, Mighty Mouse sucks, but multitouch on my new Macbook Pro is the best thing ever. (Two fingers to right click. Two fingers dragged to scroll. Pinch to pan, etc. Like iPhone.) What Apple needs to be selling are add-on multitouch touchpads for desktops. I would buy one in a heartbeat.

mine has been working great until this morning. i dropped it onto the floor and of course it came apart. i have done a few times in the past and it worked fine afterwards, but today it decided to die. called apple and they are sending me another. can't beat that! of course i did not tell them i dropped it. it just stopped working...which is technically true. ;)

thanks apple!! i promise to be more careful in the future.

wow!!! i just ordered my replacement MM yesterday and it was sitting on my doorstep this morning. that is awesome!!!

Will I need an appointment at the Apple Store to replace my Mighty Mouse?

Hey Guys,

My Mighty Mouse is playing up, so much so it totally isn't actually connecting to my MacBook Pro (yes, I have checked my battery and Bluetooth is on). I want to take it back to an Apple Retail Store and perhaps get it swapped or fixed... my question:

Will I need to book a reservation to see a 'Genius' for this, or just ask one of the Apple dudes in the store? Preferably I'd like the latter so I can turn up anytime, but if I can't do anything there, I'd just book an appointment to get in and out with a new mouse...

Any help?

Thanks in advance.

For that reason, I prefer a hacked Wii numchuck controller than the MM for gaming purpose.
