Okay, let's lay down the law - iPod touch WON'T get the 5MP camera. MAYBE HD video, but more than likely VGA. It most likely won't get a back facing camera anymore, since Apple is gonna do the least they can and charge you the most money. We will more than likely see Retina, A4 and a new design. It WON'T get 3G capability, or MicroSD slots, etc. It's gonna be a new iPod touch. with a front facing camera. possibly 3.2MP with VGA@30FPS. And all the new upgrades mentioned earlier. Maybe not even a redesign. And the reintroduction of 16GB.

I agree with you on facetime and the 3G/MicroSD slots (which is the most obvious). The back camera is something that I think is still up in the air along with a redesign. With exception to the ipod classic which doesn't get true updates anymore and is likely going to be gone soon, models change often. The ipod touch has gone two years without an updated look and will likely look different, even if its not exactly like the iphone.

It's gonna have a back camera. Resolution is unclear though. They held off a back camera last year, because they wanted an awesome release for this iPod touch, and they knew 2mp wasn't enough, because people already have those in their cell.

The iPod touch is definately due for a redesign, and it will get one. The nano, ditched the chrome back, and the touch will follow in it's footsteps.

Ok, 7 mm. I guess that still isn't too bad. But thats just me. Would it be that bad? Or is that to close to iPhone territory?
Seriously. Im almost positive no one will mind or even notice a 1 mm difference. Most people will have cases on so that already makes it 7mm. Probably. If its worth a 5MP camera, i think about everybody is fine with 7 mm.

I think you're mistaken. VGA means a 0.31 MP, not 3.2 MP. Just saying.

I think there will be a new design of some sort, at least something to differentiate the new one from the current models when a customer goes to buy one from a store shelf. There has to be some sort of difference or else the customer will assume they are the same product and just go find a lower end used model at a cheaper price. If there were no design changes then it would give current touch owners little or no reason to upgrade. The front facing camera would be a significant difference that the customer would notice right away when looking at the product.

Thanks for the information and facts, if the part only costs $1.00 then it would be good to put in and it would increase sales most likely. I wouldn't mind them just putting that in, because it can take video and photos as well as FaceTime, which is a cool service.

Sir, I think YOU are mistaken. iPhone 3GS has a 3.2MP camera, with VGA video. "Just saying" Didn't think it'd take a genius to interpret I meant 3.2 STILL and VGA.

CAMERA Primary 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus
Features Touch focus, geo-tagging
Video Yes, VGA@30fps, video geo-tagging
Secondary No
