wow, that seems a long time to wait for the new one to come out.

I almost ordered a replacement screen for my phone back in april but really figured it wasnt worth it and even though i thought the price of the new one would be much higher i figured mine wouldnt be worth anything even with a new screen.

In no way was the phone not functioning the screen was cracked that is all it still worked fine

That pretty much sums up my feelings too. I like my first gen iPhone, but nothing in the new version makes me go WHOOOO, and the few things I am excited about are software based, like colored calendars and more apps.

I think the next upgrade after this will be more compelling to me, either because my current one will be long in the tooth or because it will offer something spectacular (maybe A2DP or something cool like that.)

The fact that I can only get another 8GB of storage really makes it feel less like an upgrade to me, and I know 16GB won't be even close enough to satisfy me. Call me when they break 30GB, ya know? I had a 30GB iPod for 2 years, so I'm still used to that. Sometimes I think of a song I want to hear and go "d'oh!!!" when it's not one I have on there. I have also started encoding movies at higher quality, so I can only squeeze two on there (or maybe about 6 30-minute TV shows) on there. Before, I had three or four complete seasons of different TV shows and a movie or two.

So most of the hardware I desire is just flash memory. The 3G will be on there whenever, and I want to put off paying an extra $10/month (without any texts, mind you) as long as I can. Part of me hopes that in a year, AT&T will get smart and provide more flexibility in their data plans.

Oh, yeah...if it still worked. Keep rolling. :)

yup and my cost for fixing it was still 120 dollars for a screen and doing the swap myself which i wouldnt have minded. I'm glad i waited though cause i sold it on ebay for 175 yesterday which was a good deal for me

i wanted one since the first day the original iPhone came out, but getting one now because of the following factors:

- was able to get out of my T-mobile contract early without an ETF
- tax relief check coming in the next week or two
- own my own business so i can write off the cost of the phone and the service
- 2nd generation apple product
- 3G speeds

I broke the screen on my iphone. Instead of fixing the screen back in march when it happened i decided to just wait it out. I was planning to keep the old one but it sold on ebay yesterday:D

Same reason here, except mine was in may I believe. I don't even remember. But also, I am really looking forward to the flush headphone jack so that I can finally listen to my iPhone in the car connected to the tape connector. As of right now, that is one of the most exciting things for me right now (probably cause ijust thought of it.) :)

In this order:

1) Flush headphone jack
2) aGPS (Tom Tom)
3) Improved battery on 2G
4) Love new design

I agree, the new design is very...sexy...the old design was really nice too though. aGPS will be great, especially if someone makes some good geocaching software for it. Improved battery never hurts, and improved speaker…I really hope that it is REALLY improved, although I was never really bothered by the low volume, except when trying to show things to friends and they would be like turn it up more, and I couldn't…

im getting the new one because i just had to have it, when there something i really want il do anything to get it, if the price plan was £200 a month i would still go and get one.

I sold my v1 like 4 weeks ago. Its painful how long ive been without one for.

A whole month? That is rough. I feel for you mate. :) We're a sad group here.

I missed the boat on the first iPhone party and didnt really care and never thought twice.

Then my friend came over with his new iPhone a couple months later and I was messing around with it. I was sold in an instant.

I then heard the new 3G was coming out and decided Im making the plunge. I am not elgible for an upgrade but I cant wait to get it. I have never owned an Apple produc, just downloaded iTunes today, and never thought twice.

I am looking forward to internet anywhere, the GPS, and just the awesomeness that is the iPhone!! :D

Same...I can't wait until the launch date.

I wish they came out today.
:)
(then I could play with it over the holiday weekend)
