I am using the iPhone 6s plus - it gave an error "Oops - we've hit a bump, but we should have it straightened out soon. Please try again in a few minutes"" Tried several times and did not work. Finally called support. They said my SIM was associated with the older 5s I had and since Wifi calling is not enabled on the 5s yet, I was getting the error message. I had transferred the SIM From my old phone when I had upgraded it 6s PLUS. Support had to make some changes on their side to update the associations and it worked after that.

Huh? iPhone 6 needs iOS 9. iPhone 5 won't support wifi calling with any iOS version. I have no idea what a "pezworld" is, but it's wrong. 5s does not support wifi calling.
Wow, don't know what a pezworld is? Ok, I'll give you the benefit of not looking at pezworld' sport just prior to my post and assume you thought it was something other than a username. I got the 5s being capable from https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203032
Now I know that att excludes that. iOS 8 is capable of wifi calling, but again, att excludes that. Reasons have been explained to me in prior posts. I'll just have to stick with that until I can upgrade everything.

As I mentioned earlier in a reply to this person and in my original post, I was saying that my iPhone 5s is on Sprint. I was just making the point that Sprint allows it, so I am guessing it is an AT&T carrier restriction, not a hardware limitation. (I have two phones on two carriers.)

charging long distance fees when using a service that puts 0 load on their networks is criminal as does the reoccurring hd-voice fee.
?? How does it not put a load on their system? Calls are usually piped overseas via their dedicated sat links.

AT&T doesn't seem to use the same address validation to enable Wifi calling as it does for the rest of their stuff.
As soon as I tried to turn on Wifi calling, it complained that my 911 backup address was invalid and wouldn't let me submit the form. (We have crappy street addresses where the number provides coordinates in two directions even when the streets are linear.)

I had to re-arrange my address so the form would accept it (still understandable by a human) so then it told me the address was not found, but let me submit and enable Wifi calling anyway. Seems to be enabled now.

I recall not being able to turn it on during the beta because it required a share plan or something. Glad they decided not do that, as it seems like it would benefit them to allow everyone to use it and reduce network stress.

Switched to T-Mobile, from AT&T, when I got my 6s. I was still grandfathered on the unlimited data plan with AT&T, and they keep trying to get me off of it. They were also charging me way to much. Was with AT&T since the mid-90s. By, AT&T! By switching, I get the following:
- So far, pretty much the same coverage
- I save about 35% on my bill (Actually, more than that considering Canada/Mexico calling)
- Better phone/lease Jump program
- They paid all my switching penalties
- I get a wifi hotspot!!!!! Really, this is huge for me! AT&T would not let me switch, unless I dumped my grandfathered plan. Choke on it, AT&T!
- So far, muuuuuch better customer service. T-Mibile actually seems like they appreciate my business
- Oh yeah, wifi calling and all that is already there, as well as the ability to roam/call in Mexico and Canada, which will save me even more money.
- Plus, worldwide wifi calling, free roaming in many countries worldwide, cheap roaming/calling in some, etc. Pretty much, unlock services and technology with no nickel and diming.

While it seems gimmicky, the simple T-Mobile plan is exactly what I need. Simple, easy to understand, feature-laden, and no BS. AT&T still acts like they're the only game in town. And now Verizon is raising grandfathered unlimited data plans by $20mo. I bet both will continue lose business to T-Moble, until they start acting more like them.

Bye, AT&T!

I called AT&T. First the agent didn't know that it had been enabled. After I told him, he tried a few things and then ultimately opened a case.

What I think may be causing some problems is that if you purchased an unlocked iPhone from the Apple Store and transferred your old SIM card into the new phone (like I did from my old 5s), ATT's system doesn't automatically register your new device.

When I login to my ATT account main page, it shows a generic device icon instead of my iPhone (like it did when I had the 5s).

bah thats nothing , i left my iPhone at home and used my mac at mcdonalds and i was able to send green texts, t-mo allows ' calls on other devices ' heh
Don't get the ATTers all excited about doing this. I have a feeling that is a T-Mobile only feature.

Edit: Apple confirms it's T-Mobile only:
Place a Wi-Fi call from another device (T-Mobile only)
If you're in the United States and use T-Mobile, you can place a Wi-Fi call from your iPad or iPod touch with iOS 9, Apple Watch with watchOS 2, or Mac with OS X El Capitan. When you place the call, your iPhone could be right next to you or far away—it could even be off.

Strangely after I turned WiFi Calling on with my wife's iPhone 6 it wouldn't ring with incoming calls :( Not sure if it was temporary or what but she immediately wanted it turned back off.

You spoke to the wrong rep. Wi-fi calling works fine on my unlocked iPhone 6.

Interesting.... I purchased the T-Mobile iPhone 6S and switched to AT&T after unlocking(T-Mobile has terrible coverage at my house) and I wasn't able to activate Wi-Fi Calling...

Good news. I'm not to sure about charging for long distance..
Why? Most phone companies charge for international calls.

Good for you!!! Why are you in this thread? Do you work for T-Mobile? I'm guessing you do since your post in a thread about AT&T is basically an ad for T-mobile.

I am not getting the ringer to work now. Callers are getting a busy signal!. This is working iPhone to iPhone but not Landline to my iPhone. Ugh!

I think it has to do more with it originally being a T-Mobile device. Other have had the same issiue, using one that was for another carrier, but unlocked AT&T iPhones have worked.

Hmm. I wonder if there was a way that AT&T could allow unlocked phones from other carriers to use the service, I mean I am paying them for service....

I'm in the same boat. I have a T-Mobile 6S+ and couldn't activate Wifi calling. But my moms AT&T iPhone 6 was able to enable it no problem.
