I just got off the phone with at&t because I kept loosing facetime through cellular and you know what they told me that because I have unlimited data ... I can't have wifi calling on and have facetime over cellular, its one or the other ... apparently wifi calling knocks off video messaging provisioning on my account.. wtf

.......... That's AT&T for you.

That makes no sense. I have all of the above above on my account...

yeah it doesn't make sense honestly.. I don't believe them. They sound like they just are lazy..however this is 5 different representatives, and now I even got my phone replaced, and they all say the same thing instead of looking into it, and this is the Advanced Technical Support Case Team

I know it's not the same but I have WIFI on my iPhone 6 Plus with T-Mobile but not an unlimited plan and can make video calls no problem well at least my phone says WiFi where it normally would say Cellular and can make Facetime calls not problems...

Reason I am saying this was because I was on AT&T Unlimited then switched over to the Family plan but my Daughter was killing everything going over all the time. Well T-Mobile has all the carrier free options and for the 10GB a month plan she gets 10GB and I get 10GB plus all the carrier free stuff and it's about $40 cheaper a month than AT&T's deals and she's never gone over anything because all the stuff she used to burn me with is carrier free from the data plan! If she does go over they don't keep charging me more they slow her connection down not mine until the next billing cycle.

Thing I am saying is don't bother doing the math just switch over to T-Mobile less headaches at least for me!

So for one, that sounds really odd.. but I'll add another data point. I've been using WIFI calling for several months now, racking up 1500-2000 min a month (now using it more at home and office for work calls) and it's been solid, but in the past couple weeks the phone will be on wifi calling at home, and switch back to the network (and drop the call first) and then won't reconnect to wifi calling at all for a while, making me burn minutes. So, I'm wondering if they were losing something, extra minute revenue (which I would really never have given them) or trying to make me pay for something else now that I'm not using the micro-cell. Could be just a coincidence though.

I don't understand. I have unlimited data, WiFi calling including NumberSync and can use FaceTime over LTE or WiFi without issue. Maybe I need to test some other way, could you explain again what you are trying to do and what you see as the failure?

There must be more to this.

Agreed same here

Bahahahahahaaaha that's cute you buy into the term and name "Advanced Technical Support Case Team"

It's just mostly a fancy name all cell carriers ( and probably a lot of other tech involved companies ) have em but yet like ANY Other part of customer support there's still idiots and bad eggs that get into these positions.

I've had things with any carrier that have taken like 20 reps to fix or figure out so its not unheard of.

I doubt it's a bout extra minute revenue
( unless you're on a metered minute plan but unlikely )

Unless you're using an amount of usage deem able as fishy, suspicious or abusive. If anything people using WiFi minutes is a godsend to them since as mentioned before numerous times they can offload that usage from their network and put it on the backs of willing ISP's

Same here tho I honestly hardly ever us FT. I've just never gotten the novelty or appeal. Plus I much prefer means of communication that let me extract my monies worth out that which I'm paying for in my service plan.

That sucks!!! I'm not sure about AT&T anymore.

That sounds fishy and absurd.
Granted I could see them not wanting video calls on unlimited cellular lest it or the data be at risk over getting overused or abused.

Why do people even use video calling or FaceTime? What wrong with Skype, or good ol fashion plain voice calling?

Or voice calling over WiFi if signal is an issue where you are?

It's probably a computer or billing system glitch or some paper pusher being a moron on deciding what features should/shouldn't be compatible with one another

AT&T isn't that bad.
Sprint and Verizon are worse lol

The feature works fine for me. I can FaceTime over cellular and I'm on the unlimited data plan. The only blocked feature I am aware of is HotSpot. It would be nice to have some amount of data available each month for the service but for now the feature is just off.

To be fair I wasn't the one that posted the original complaint about the feature issue. Unfortunately I'm on a metered plan but grandfathered into one heck of a deal almost too good to give up

( a double data plan that they doubled twice, plus get other perks R/O, Bonuses etc )

Agreed having a HotSpot allowance separate from the main allotments would be nice but honestly granted I'm not everyone I get waaayyyy more data than I need and the R/O and bonus data only adds to it ( I'm typically losing out on 10 to 25 GB a cycle but again with the amount of gigs I get not a huge concern tho I'd happily take a longer R/O period )
