Wi-Fi network no longer required for AirPlay!

Nice but what does that mean really?

Is this only for the Apple-TV? After you install the update?
Or will this also work for third party equipment like the "iHome iW1 AirPlay" for instance?

That would make it awesome, so you can place the iHome anywhere you want, no need to have wifi and use it. But I guess you will need a SW update on that equipment first.

It means you can AirPlay video from an iDevice directly to Apple TV without being having to be connected to a WiFi network.

Back to the original question.. Has anyone (those running iOS8) tried it yet, and can you comment on how well it works?
