In my personal experience with my Penryn 2.6 17" hi-res with 4 gigs Ram and 512 MB VRAM and my brothers Santa Rosa 2.4 15" with 256 MB VRAM, I would say there is honestly not a very big jump in performance gaming wise between the two.

Hey, I appreciate this feedback!! That really tells me that I need to wait a bit... so I went to Fry's and purchased 4 GB ram for my current MBP and asked my wifey to hold out until a really good revision comes out to the MBP line. She said she was creating a laptop fund for me so I have the cash to just walk in and get one when I'm ready. I really love my current MBP's performance and based on your feedback, it won't hurt me to wait to see what comes out! Thanks a lot!;)

Glad I could help! Good luck on the waiting game. I know from experience how painful it can be :D

You've already got a MBP. Your wife should purchase herself a new one. Why should she take your hand-me-downs? Do the right thing and tell her your being selfish and that she should go ahead and purchase whatever she feels she needs.

IMHO you should wait. The Penryn update isn't that much improving (except for SS4) and the switch to the nehalem architecture which will come by the next update could bring a case redesign...

I wouldn't bank on a case redesign, People have been saying every single revision "case redesign next tuesday for MBPzz 1!" but it never happens.
