i don't know why but my wifi calling is not working it gives me an error message whenever I try to place a call and I am on "AT&T wifi" so I have to turn off "AT&T wifi" in order to place or get calls

Anybody else?

Or anybody know the fix for this?

I have done network reset and setting reset and nothing

Do you live in a Starbucks? Where are you that your wifi network is called AT&T? Did you set up that name yourself? It seems strange that that's the name of your home wifi network. Maybe att excluded their own network name from wifi calling.

No I am at home I have my own wifi name

When AT&T is on wifi and it's calling wifi is on

On the top left hand side it says AT&T wifi when it's turned on for wifi calling

Ah I see, that's by design. Well I'd chalk it up to the service being started today and maybe not firing on all cylinders yet.

Weird thing is my wife's phone works with wifi calling that's why I am all confused

Maybe reboot the phone if you haven't since enabling wifi calling. iPhone loves a good reboot.

Mine resolved shortly after I posted. I realize that there's probably a number of people trying to jump onto the Wi-Fi network. Now it seems like even when I get decent reception via LTE in my place, the phone still prefers to stay connected via Wi-Fi. I'm quite amazed how good this deal is. Unlimited everything plus Wi-Fi calling. Best d@mn phone ever!

Will it say wifi even when you still have cell coverage or does it say att wifi the whole time it is connected to wifi?

I think its growing pains, mine has been working for weeks, but not that its official today, it won't work for me anymore. Don't really care since I don't notice it and it probably only saves At&t money since most plans are unlimited talk these days, oh well.

I don't know if the guy on the phone knew what he was talking about, but an AT&T 611 told me yesterday that it would be a short while before the iPhone's that people bought from Apple are provisioned.

He said that the AT&T provided phones were provisioned first.

That is BS! I got mine from Apple as well as a couple of other people I work with and we were all activated today. We had all been waiting on it, because where we work inside we get like 2 bars of signal and sometimes 1. However, we have very strong Wifi that we are allowed to use and so having it available today to make customer calls has been fantastic. Most of us use our cell phones rather than the office phones because we are in and out so much.

Did you buy the AT&T version with Band 30, or the unlocked T-Mobile version without Band 30?

I have the T-Mobile version.

Just got off a call using AT&T WiFi. Wow. I activated it yesterday the instant the news broke. I have one-two bars in my building at work, so I suspect it will stay on WiFi all the while I'm here. The call was clear, and I'm just as impressed as possible.

Was it as good as HD Voice?

Could someone post a screen shot of the indicator on the upper left when your using wifi calling? I turned it on both my wife's and I 6+'s yesterday, and it doesn't seem to be working. But I don't have any indication to make me think its using wifi over cellular for calls.

EDIT::

I saw someone else say they put their phone into airplane mode, with wifi on, and that fixed them... Took care of me too..

Its my SIM card that is giving the issue :-/ I have to get it replaced in AT&T at least that's what I think or what makes sense since nothing else does the trick

Gotta be honest, and I know AT&T says that a lot, but WTF does a SIM card have to do with WIFI calling? Call me ignorant to the technology, but the SIM is tied to the cell network.. I've had them replace my SIM in the past for many different connection issues, which had nothing to do with the cell network.. Just seems like its their goto solution, if it makes sense or not.. Drives me banana's.. :)

BTW. Take it to an AT&T store, and then try wifi calling there.. Since all the stores have AT&T wifi, should be a simple test to prove the issue.. And if its a SIM, they can replace it and show you that wifi calling works.. :)

Makes no sense to me either :-/

I don't think the AT&T Wi Fi logo at the top of the phone has ANYTHING to do with wifi at an AT&T store/network. The AT&T logo is always there, they just added the Wi Fi wording so that you know when you're using VOIP via Wifi. #facepalm

I just got off the phone with ATT. I have always used a micro-cell at my home because of poor coverage. When WiFi calling launched, I was anxious to give it a try. I tried activating and got the "oops" error. I called ATT and they said I needed a new sim card. Got one and tried again, no go. They said since mine was the T-Mobile version, it was not provisioned for WiFi calling and wouldn't be anytime soon. Bummer right? Well here is whats worse... Ever since changing my sim card, my MicroCell isn't picking up my phone and now I can't get service at home! Beyond ticked off!
