Apple today announced the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of iPad® mini and the new fourth generation iPad with Retina display will be available in China on Friday, January 18. iPad mini and the fourth generation iPad are currently available in more than 100 countries worldwide including the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan and the UK.
The iPad and iPad mini models will be available in China through Apple retail stores, Apple.com and authorized retailers. Just last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook traveled to China to meet with partners and government officials, and where he announced that the cellular iPad and iPad mini models would be launching before the end of the month. Apple's focus on China has continued throughout the past several years, with the company having almost doubled its retail presence in Greater China since his last visit to the country just ten months ago.

And 1.5 months later new iPads out?

New Apple release cycLOLOLOLOLOLe

Independent of the scale of the retail presence, the real news is the full support for two major dialects of Chinese on a "smartphone" which is a stealth handtop supercomputer. Soon to be in the hands of millions of Chinese. That's a thing.

And a walled garden even a red Chinese can be comfortable with!

On Friday, the entire nation of China learns that, no, we weren't kidding... the iPad Mini DOES NOT have a retina display

If Apple never designed their portables with Retina Display nobody would've cared. It's not like all their LCD laden products sucked before Retina came out. :p

At least they won't have far to ship them.

They should build an apple store at the factory, and have the customers wait in line at the end of the conveyor belt.

Right. It really is just in comparison to the awesomeness that is Retina that the Mini's screen looks bad.

Somehow I don't think the sort of people who can afford the iPad will be bunking next door to the FoxConn factories ;)

And that's a mind-boggling thought. I wonder how those talks with China Mobile are going; a deal with them could really explode sales of cell-enabled iOS devices.

Ugh, finally, the cellular version iPad is on sale in China!
Commies don't matter to them, all Apple wants is their money.

Not every Apple customer in China is Chinese Communist Party member.
Not every Apple customer in California is left-wing socialist.
