(iPhone 5s) It seems that my wifi slows down on me... For example when I was on pandora the music stopped playing and I noticed that there was a message saying "limited network connection ... Buffering." This was the first time it buffers on me... Also when watching videos on YouTube, buffers. I'm getting really frustrated with this, thinking about getting a replacement. But before I do that is there any solutions to this or fixes? Thanks.

Could it be your ISP? I find using Google's DNS instead of my ISP's helps tremendously with YouTube.

Just for the heads up if he doesn't know: Google's DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Correct em if I'm wrong.

Also, wouldn't know of any Wifi problems in 8.1.1. I am still on 8.1 for jailbreak.

The update 8.1.1 caused my iphone 6 to buffer you tube videos. Some of the posts on here are helpful, however, none of them fixed my problem. I'm pretty optimistic and sure Apple will fix it. We're not the only ones with this annoying bug.

Getting real mad right now..... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1417073853.171480.jpg

Turn off cellular data while you are connected to your own or local WIFI.

Settings>Cellular>turn off cellular data

Turn cellular data back on when you get out of WIFI range.

I found that WIFI and cellular data do not like to play together at the same time nicely.

That's a huge hassle. Not really a solution. I can't really see myself doing this everytime.

Awesome tip....thanks!

It is a hassle, but my WIFI drops out and does not reconnect. Apple needs to fix this problem.

My guess is there a data buffer that is used between WIFI and cellular data that does not share well when both systems are turned on together.

I figure it is less of a hassle than turning "airplane mode" on / off or "forgetting network" and then reconnecting every few hours.

This is what I've had to on my 6 plus. I would have thought all these updates like 8.1 and 8.1.1 would solve the wifi issues. This also means you can't receive mms messages and visual voicemail. I hope Apple finally fixes this with 8.2. This only happens to my iPhone when I haven't used it in a while I guess the wifi goes to sleep.

Just got a new 6+, and my WiFi drops out too. Might hold for 3-4 hours, but if it sits unused for more than that the WiFi is gone. Indicator still shows full bars, but there is no networking.

This is really annoying. As much as I like the new phone, if this WiFi issue isn't fixed soon I will probably end returning this phone and going back to Android. Never had any WiFi issues whatsoever on my GS4.

The solution by WiFried is for jailbroken devices. It disables Airdrop functionality which claims to improve wifi. I am not jailbroken, so instead I disabled Airdrop in Settings under Restrictions. This should effectively do what WiFried is suggesting here:

I get dodgy wifi issues on 8.1.1. It looks like he did some good work to track this down but it doesn't appear to apply in my case. I tried his test of pulling up Control Panel whilst speed testing and it did not degrade my connection.

For iOS 8.1.1 he said Air Drop needed to be on.

The Control Center test didn't seem to affect me either but after installing WiFried - I can say it made a big difference to my overall WiFi experience. I didn't even really think I had much issue with WiFi (was blaming the apps..like Tapatalk.. or had just gotten used to that being how it is) but I can see now just how much lag I had before and how much better it is now.

My wifi issues have gotten much better. So far 5+ days. Before I had to disable cellular data when on wifi. I recently got my sim card swapped out for a new one since I was having a no sim error. Since then no issues. I wonder if it has anything to do with it or its just a coincidence.

Just to add my 2¢ worth. I've been having WiFi issues on both my 4S & my iPad Air 2 since updating to 8x. Just like the WiFi on Yosemite on OSX. Seems the need some new WiFi developers all around.
