Can any one confirm is this a hardware or software issue ? I have M1 macbook air and I do have similar Internet working issue. Wifi dont disconnect but randomly browser says "Could not connect to Internet". 2Ghz does seem to work (But I sometime saw website not loading problem) better than 5Ghz.

just found this post. I’ve been on the macOS 11.4 betas and the RC since it was released, and then TODAY I’m having connection issues. I’ve got Comcast and have both the 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz bands combined in Bridge mode. I’m having zero issues with any of the other devices/computers in our house.
I tried reinstalling macOS 11.4 and am not seeing any change! I can reboot, it connects and seems fine. After an undeterminable amount of time I lose connection. I haven’t tried restarting my Modem yet, it’s just odd that everything would be fine and then fail like this.

Hi everyone. I'm on BigSur 11.14 and I think I'm facing the same issue. Sometimes the MacBook disconnects of Wi-Fi. I try to connect in another network but without success. I need to restart the MB, so it start to work again. I'm sure the issue isn't with modem. I'm worried just to think that it can be some hardware issue.

I ran a continuous ping test (through command line) to captive.apple.com over 12 hours. My M1 mac was pining that address with interval of 60 seconds and I found the following :
17.253.67.203 IP of cative.apple.com
192.168.1.101 is just my local IP (yours might be different)
The following is the command I ran through terminal. I think it would be worth if any one can test the same. See if you guys also get Destination Net Unreachable
Note : I got "Destination Net Unreachable" error 6 times out 1100 pings so far.

Still having terrible wireless issues with my M1 MBP. All other devices in the house are totally fine. I’ve tried restarting my Modem and I’ve even tried restarting and forgetting my SSID and rejoining. It’ll connect and be fine for a few minutes, then I won’t have a connection again after a short bit. Still shows I’m connected to my WiFi, though. So frustrating. I’ve been kinda getting by with an Ethernet cable in my dock. But if I take my laptop somewhere away from my Dock, no internet.

Just took delivery on an M1 MacBook Pro. WiFi internet speed is 0.25 MBit/sec. All other Apple iOS and MacOS devices on the same network are operating 200 times faster at 50 MBit/sec. I sure as hell hope that this is a firmware and not a hardware problem.

Whatever is causing this issue, it’s a new issue as of the 11.4 RC and final release. Fine before that. Definitely a software issue. Not a hardware issue.

Thanks for the update. This is our first AS Mac. This one is for my wife who just retired and lost her work supplied computer. I was planning on another when the M1X MBP shows up later this year to replace my 2016 MBP and was getting cold feet over my 11.4 only experience with this one. Feel much better now knowing it isn't a HW issue.

I’ve said this a number of times in a few different threads regarding different issues: These M1 Macs are amazing. I love it and absolutely do not regret it.
Similar issue with my wife’s M1 MacBook Air. When it wakes form sleep it does not automatically join wifi network and it asks to select a network. We are using a Orbi RBR850 router. No other Apple devices have this issue and we have many. Seems like it is always want to connect to a hotspot too.

Same problems with a new M1 Air. I had to do a complete wipe and re-install when my company enrollment required me to change my password on first login and it couldn't communicate with the server to update the profile. That was a fun adventure. . . who knew you had to delete the -Data folder too? These new M1 machines are strange.

I am latest macOS 11.4, I feel so far it is better than any previous. Can any point out if it is hardware or software. I fear it is a hardware because many people do not have problems (at least looking at youtube videos, their reviews etc)

I have the same issue.
Do you use a dongle? And if so which one/model?
Macbook Pro M1 16gb Ram
Fiber Internet Wifi, Then it disconnected and had to connect through line. Disconnection still occurs during streaming.
Streaming to Twitch using OBS
Internet cuts out 3-4 hrs in and have to restart the computer both scenarios above.
Macbook Air 2020 Intel does fine, iPhones are fine. Deactivated other devices from wifi network to keep only the Macbook pro m1 without interference or cut out but only to see it disconnect again.
I believe it is a Macbook Pro M1 issue.
I returned mine and ordered a replacement a few days later. It arrives tomorrow, so we will see how that works out.

I have one of the new MacBook Air M1 units and I've been using it for the past week and change with a Netgear Nighthawk RAX50, which is a WiFi 6 router, with no issues at all. And, I've only ever connected it to the 5 GHz side.

I’m having this same issue on an M1 MBP 16GB/2TB model. Wireless “connects”, but can’t browse to any sites. If I connect with my Belkin dock to a wired connection, everything is fine. I’ve tried forgetting my home connection and reconnecting, but not seeing any change.
I’ve also noticed this only to be an issue after macOS 11.4, and now continues on the latest macOS 11.5 beta.

I've been cycling WiFi off/on all morning, needing to use my Laptop as an actual Laptop instead of being docked in my office, and connected with an Ethernet Cable. UGH. At least 5 times this morning so far.
And for me, I noticed this started on the official release of macOS 11.4, but not on those betas, and now continues on the latest macOS 11.5 b3.
And seeing as though toggling WiFi off/on works temporarily, I'd also assume a software update could resolve this. Not a hardware issue.
My first MacBook Air shipped with 11.2, so the problem existed before 11.4. I had considered installing Monterey but someone above said it occurs there as well.
Can someone update the current situation of the Macbook pro M1 wifi issue with Asus wifi 6 router after MacOS 11.4? I'm talking about the issue where after a big file download / streaming/ zoomcall, the internet would drop off completely, while still shown as connected ? Thanks alot
It still happens, but it's not specific to that router.
