For me speedtetst isn't fast enough to get up to speed. I do get over 500mbps with larger files, at home :)

I have a netgear nighthawk 802.11ac and 150MB down with comcast and I get pretty much 150MB down with a tablet or 6s iphone.

I never understood wifi networks or networks in general. I know how to change channels and frequencies on my router, but that's it.

Anyway, I have a 50Mbps connection at home - however, I never get those speeds on my iOS devices. On my iMac, I get around 40Mbps on wifi and full 48-50Mbps when I hook the LAN cable. However, on my iPhone 6 and now iPad Pro, I get 30Mbps tops, usually around 25Mbps.

I'm not sure why it works better on my iMac, but I'm guessing the iPad pro should be able to hit these maximum speeds as well. I'm using some Cisco router that was installed by the cable provider. It doesn't support 5Ghz, only 2.4Ghz, and is probably not a great router.

Do you think a better router would help these things? Any suggestions?

#1. Get an AC Router the speed difference is tremendous once your iPad Pro is talking to your Router at 800Mbps Netflix is Instant. Every YouTube Video Loads instanltly in HD
#2. WiFi is pretty much a standard, However the iPad Pro's LTE Speeds are 150Mbps and the new 9.7 Inch Ipad Pro's LTE speeds are double at 300Mbps I choose an LTE model because in case of a Power Outage or Storm my Internet May Go Down. But Sprint's LTE will and does stay Up and Functioning.
#3. Disable 2.4Ghz if you think about it at least I do all my devices are 5Ghz 802.11AC compatible getting Rid of the 2.4Ghz Radio clear up interfernce from Microwaves Cordless phones other People WifI. Being in 5Ghz at 802.11AC speeds is worth it, its also a much more stable less noisy channel and connection.

I solved my issue by getting an Asus RT-AC66U router. Now I get full speeds over wifi but only when using a 5Ghz network.
I have one of those at home as well. Was great for quite some time but recently started to give me some trouble with connections

Here's what I don't get it, I have a Wi-Fi network similar to that at my university. My iPad gets over 300 Mb down, but my iPhone 6 it's only 15. The Wi-Fi antennas in the devices can't be that different.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I have a very similar issue -- I can get around 190 Mbp over ethernet, 180 over wifi on my MBP, 15 on my iPad Pro, and a measly 1.6 on my 6 Plus.
