I'll be avoiding all M5 hardware which I'm sure is great, because of the Liquid Ass dumpster fire that Anal Dye created before he got ejected. Might pick up more M4 hardware before it goes off sale, just to have enough machines that can still run Sequoia, because M5 stuff will only support Tahoe garbage and the future garbage that comes after it.

Interesting. Unlike the iPhone, I barely notice any of the liquid glass changes in Tahoe.

At this point, who cares if Apple shoves out a new MacBook Pro. I won’t be able to take full advantage of the hardware anyway unless I subscribe to Apple software and will be overpaying for that privilege.

Thanks Apple for making my upgrade decision easy. I’ll buy a used Mac every 7 years. And one that’s 2 years older than the most current one.

I would wait for M6 series with a whole new design instead of SoC.
I would wait until your current Mac goes vintage. Then wait a little longer until it no longer runs your current software the way you would like or Apple no longer even pushed out security updates to it.

Then go buy a used Mac that is 2 years older than the most current model. It will still be performant for another 7 years and you’re not paying as inflated a price as even a one year old model because that’s where everyone is jumping into the used market.

It is great for certain things.....
I am looking forward to seeing all the Google AI imaging and video integrations into this professional software suite, and then reading everyone’s reactions.
You’ll only see the AI slop features if you pay Apple the monthly or yearly rent.

Apple Store BTO ship dates clearly say no.

When new machines are imminent, the dates of BTO configurations get pushed out by several weeks.
All of the M4 Max machines are pushed out that far. The M4 Pro models do not appear to be though.

MacBook Air BTO would have to be pushed out as well. I think we'd see more clear evidence if launch were imminent.

Did you mean this? :p

To get all the features and computing capability of the M5 Pro chip, it’s also to be $12.99 a month. $20.99 for the M5 Max.

Very possible considering that it is going to be a very minor update with just a chip upgrade. The prices should remain the same. Announcing it this month should give Apple around 1.5 months before the M5 MacBook Air is announced.

This is always the best strategy. I will keep my M1 at least 10 years before getting a new one.

Yeah I dont know about the last part. Since 2020 my iPad Pro M1 still has high hardware specs, that it never used. On the other hand the mbp becomes an iPad Pro with an attached keyboard it they add the new display and touch?

I am confused.

Why not finally crafting an OS which allows MacOS usability on iPad Pro and let the mbp be a decent ultrabook?

I have seen and tested enough laptops with touchcreen and havent found out why you want that. It sounds great at first, but touchscreen isnt the huge next step we need. It was the other way around: We needed touchscreen for small mobile devices since no keyboard was able to fit in without trading a lot of functionality. On bigger devices it's the other way around. We want haptic feedback for certain tasks. We need the precision of a pointer or keyboard strokes for an efficient workflow. And since Apple already allows for more and more synchronizing between devices: Why?

Just give us a great mpb with great battery life and make use of that shared RAM for AI optimization which makes it ahead of any other ultrabook and IF someone really needs the touch - then get an iPad and synch it with mbp.

Thats my stance on this.

I have stopped caring. And won't be buying anything unless they fix the software on it...
I concur about not caring!

Of the many Apple products I own, my long time favorite is the MacBook Pro I spend hours and hours on for work and personal.

It’s extremely disappointing to witness the failures and missteps over the last few years. Once a trusted source, the Cupertino company has become rather questionable and seems adrift at sea.

I’ll take one 16” M5 max please! ☝🏻 yeah I think this current form factor is the best and this version of MacBook will be our last opportunity to grab one… before they mess things up with this new touchscreen version.

Can you not install Sequoia on an M5 MacBook?

Of the many MacBook Pro’s I had as my primary computer, my current model is a 16” M4 Max MacBook Pro which is by far my favorite. Stunningly fast, the usual excellent keyboard, beautiful display and more.

The thought of a touchscreen is dreadful.

As one who upgrades regularly and embraces change, it must be said that the once trustworthy Cupertino company has drifted off into a direction that is quite concerning.

Sooo… I’m highly anticipating a release of more M5 Macs during the last week of January, during Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th.

Here are my reasons (aside from the fact that I desperately want the M5 Mac mini):

1) As pointed out by the article, the new Creators Studio Bundle is being released on January 28th, probably the same day we’re getting iOS 26.3? If so, all new hardware will probably come with 26.3.

It would make sense to have new hardware out to take advantage of the new Creators Studio apps, and give traction to new, incoming subscriptions with new hardware, especially if it’s a new Mac Studio, with a new Studio Display (wink, wink).

2) Also pointed out by the article, the earnings call will be January 29th right? And hardware releases usually happen shortly before.

3) The Holidays sales seasons has finished and a good boost for the remaining period would be new hardware. Also, the returning window for the Christmas presents will be well past by the last week of January.

All rational signals point towards a release of new M5 hardware during January 26th, 27th and 28th. Maybe the Mac mini on Monday, Mac Studio on Tuesday, and finally the new MacBook Pros on Wednesday? Competing the M5 family with the M5, M5 Pro and M5 Max (and maybe M5 Ultra?)

However, even tho that’s what my logic says, my gut feelings aren’t quite the same. The main reason why I feel this might not happen: RAM and SSD shortages.

Yes, maybe Apple had planned for the release of this new hardware for this month, however, the past few months have been quite atypical. We all know what’s happening, if we read tech news.

Hopefully, as is usually said, Apple had all the M5 Mac family well planned beforehand and already in production for the past few months, avoiding most of the problems the industry is facing now. Maybe they release them in short quantities, maybe they raise RAM and storage upgrade prices -even more-, maybe they have a good amount of M5 chips already built, and we can buy our M5 computers this month… while the stock remains.

Remember, if this ends up happening and we get the new M5 Mac family out, it will be wise to act fast if you’re interested in one, as stock could be affected in a few months, and prices for the M6 generation of Macs will skyrocket (if they don’t do it now).
