My money on them updating iPhone XR with newer iPhone XR2 or whatever they will call.

Some of the colors will likely continue on with the 2019 XR, but also with the addition of new colors as well for marketing. As for keeping the 2018 XR in their lineup, I don’t forsee they will, because there will be very few changes made to the 2019 XR, naturally the consumer will choose the cheaper option between the two models, which Apple would rather have them purchase the newest XR model from a sales projective. That all said, I expect them to discontinue the 2018 XR with the announcement of the 2019 XR.

Most probably the current XR will be replaced by its successor with some colors being common.

There are some substantial changes with the 11R. No one will mistake 11R for an XR. I suspect the XR will remain in the lineup and slot lower in price ($599-649).

- Dual rear camera
- 12 MP front camera
- Upgraded Face ID
- 4GB RAM
- UWB
- Two-way wireless charging
- Frosted glass

So breaking this down, consumers don’t pay attention to details like RAM/upgraded front camera/frosted glass, do they even know what those things are? (Rhetorical) Point is, the only way the consumer can differentiate between the 2019 XR versus the 2018 XR, would be the alleged dual camera and new colors, that’s it. What you listed is technical enough where Consumers don’t even understand what Ram is, and/or, wouldn't be a consideration for somebody looking to purchase a 2019 XR. The only thing a consumer chooses is the color/storage.

At minimum, I think consumers will pay attention to the front and rear cameras, along with two way wireless charging. Apple saw value in selling both iPhone 7 and 8 at the same time. The XR and 11R will be a similar story.

Let's pretend Apple discontinues iPhone XR this fall. What would fill the $599-699 slot currently occupied by iPhone 8 and 8 Plus? That is a huge gap without the XR.

I think there will continue to be a strong market for iPhone XR and 11R this fall. Given the competition from Android, I don't think Apple will force consumers to spend a minimum of $749 to buy thin bezels and Face ID.

IMO Tim needs to clear up his act.

This is how it should be:

iPhone Pro (5" and 6")
iPhone (5" and 6")

That is it, no previous models.

iPhone 5" - USD 500
iPhone 6" - USD 650
Base 64 GB
Additional USD 50 for 128 GB
Additional USD 100 for 256 GB over 128 GB
Additional USD 150 for AC+

iPhone Pro 5" - USD 850
iPhone Pro 6" - USD 1000
Base storage 128 GB
Additional USD 100 for 256 GB over 128 GB
Additional USD 200 for 512 over 256 GB
Additional USD 400 for 1TB over 512 GB
Additional USD 200 for AC+

I can’t see the iPhone 8/8+ being dropped this year though as it’s still too popular and the last remaining device with TouchID. It’s still a preference for some people and the devices are priced right. I don’t think the XR will disappear but neither do I think the 8.

What I feel is Apple will only sell the following devices through their main website (excluding refurb/clearance):

8/+
2019 - 3 new iPhones

That’s it.

They’ll probably continue selling all existing products through third parties, telecoms, in India etc though.

I don’t think the iPhone 8 will be discontinued this September either. It will likely stay but decrease in price, taking the bottom price slot where iPhone 7 currently occupies. Some posters believe the XR will be discontinued. But that would leave a big gap in Apple’s price stack.

I feel they will retain the 8 at 499 and 8 Plus maybe at 599.

In India, Apple has officially stopped selling X but they're selling them through Amazon.in and Flipkart.com and only the 64 GB model. INR 66500 approx USD 950 or so.

It would leave a big hole in Apple’s price stack. The iPhone 8 series will drop by $100 and nothing would take its place. The price bracket between $600-700 would be empty.

iPhone XR is a high volume mainstream phone. It doesn’t make sense Apple would leave a big gap when they can fill it with iPhone XR.

As an ultra premium smartphone, it makes sense to stop selling iPhone X and replace it with iPhone XS. There should only be one top smartphone. But the XR is intended as a mainstream product, just like iPhone 7 and 8. It makes no sense to discontinue it so soon to leave a big hole in Apple’s price stack.

In India you can get the X online for USD 950.

Through AASPs in India:

XR USD 800ish and up

XS USD 1350 and up

Presumably it will be bumped down a slot as usual - 7 is replaced by 8; 8 is replaced by XR; XR is replaced by XIR. Don't see what else they can do unless they are very generous and start the XIR at $599 and make the XS the $749 model (that would be the day!)

2019 iPhone range

iPhone 11/Max
iPhone 11r
iPhone Xr
iPhone 8/plus

iPhone 7/plus will still be sold in some developing markets.

iPhone 11/max will introduce a 1tb storage tier with price between £1,549-£1,849.
My guess for the new 1tb iPhone 11max is between £1,749 or £1,849

iPhone XS Max 512gb is currently £1,449.

Base iPhone 11 will remain at £999 no idea if that will be for a 64 gb or 128 gb storage tier.

Another year later, I think the 8, if it remains around, needs to be the low-end model for prepaid services, etc. The 8 doesn't support B14 or B71, which is becoming more widespread.

IMO the 8 will come down to 499 plus tax for 64 GB. It’s possible 256 GB is offered at 649 or even not offered at all.

I hope they’ll keep the new models as X. I know X means 10, but they skipped 9 so what does it matter. They need a new naming scheme besides numbers, or to just abandon it altogether.
