I hope they’ll keep the new models as X. I know X means 10, but they skipped 9 so what does it matter. They need a new naming scheme besides numbers, or to just abandon it altogether.

I’ve mentioned it in other threads, but the ‘numbering scheme’ for the iPhone is imperative. The reason Apple uses the numbering scheme, isn’t just because that’s ‘how it started’, it’s because the highest number iPhone shows the newest model and then devalues the older iPhone model with the older number. For Apple, it’s all marketing and they need the consumer to see the latest iPhone with the highest number, it’s traditional and yet tactful marketing.

For Apple to change the numbering scheme to some other type of marketing for the iPhone, it would have to show the latest iPhone in their lineup, similar to how the Apple Watch is labeled Series 1/Series 2/Series 3, etc.
