I know this thread is odd, but I like to add a little something something :D

There are those of us who have real problems and those who don't with our computers. And then there are also those of us who are real perfectionists and those of us who aren't. You know who you are.

My top-of-the-line original MBP has a 8 page repair history, and let me tell you...it has gone thru everything! From dancing back lite keys to lawnmower speaker sounds. Mobo has been replaced 3-4x, etc etc. I don't abuse my machine, but I do use it a lot since I do IT consulting and quite the computer phenom.

I am only thinking of getting a free replacement from Apple because it has issues, not because I look for problems to get it replaced so I can get a new machine. Not suggesting your problems are not real, but even Apple can't make PERFECT machines. And picking on minute details to get it repaired is utterly ridiculous.

Different Issue Same Question

If my computer is completely unable to function (trackpad doesn't work, keyboard doesn't work, and battery doesn't work) will apple still wait until I come back three times before replacing my laptop?

Yes. Your need at least 3 major repairs with individual repair IDs. Top cases will not count towards the tally as it is a 10 minute job.

The 3 repairs have to be for the same problem and has to be done w/in a yr.

Apple will replace parts as long as your machine is under the original warranty or AppleCare.

I have to make a correction about having ur machine replaced for the same problem. It doesn't have to be the same issue, but like another poster said, small things like ur key broke or anything of this less-severity doesn't really count towards a "real repair." I had my mobo replaced 4x, inverter 2x and all kinds of stuff. Even with a history like this, Apple was reluctant to replace it, though they finally did :D
