Will Apple have a high end phone next year or 2 normal ones

I think it would be a mistake to let the iPhone 6 form factor continue. I would hope the screen tech would trickle down and the next generation iPhone would hold the current iPhone 8/8+ price with more iPhone X specs.
But given how expensive everything from Apple has become, I'm not sure that will happen. It's quite frustrating.

I'd bet the farm on bigger X phone. Whether they call it iphone pro or X plus..who knows
I think the current iPhone 8 form factor will be next years "budget" model, and we'll have two Iphone Xs sizes.
Maybe have one more year of LCD iPhones then kill LCD off for good.
My guess is that they’ll introduce a plus sized X+1. If they feel that they’ve pushed the price too high, they might keep it at the same price that the X currently sits at and then drop the X+1 $100 in price. If not, the plus sized X+1 is probably going to start at $1099. My bet is on the latter, because Apple. Storage is probably going to be the same, but we might see a 512GB version which might be a plus sized feature only. Typical Apple d... move. The 8/8+ and 6s/6s+ will disappear. The 6s will be too old and the 8 will still be too good for entry level. The current X will disappear as well. The 7/7+ will be the "budget" phone and probably only come in a 64GB version. The reason being that they want to keep true tone and wireless charging only available to the latest greatest. Again, another typical Apple d... move to upsell you. Jet black will disappear. It’ll hurt their margins too much to produce. We can’t have that. Perhaps rose gold and gold as well. It’s just getting too cluttered with their lineup. In return, they might offer a third X+1 color option. It’ll probably be some ugly color that everybody will go crazy over and get anyway and we will have numerous threads with insecure guys wondering if people will question their sexuality if seen using a phone of that particular color.

I think they’ll do a Samsung and release a gold X in early next year when sales of the X are dropping off due to the price.

Yeah I don’t get the naming. I understand X is the anniversary phone and all. But in 2 years are they going to call the regular iPhone the 10 or skip to 11? Or maybe they’ll just drop the number thing altogether since Apple doesn’t care for numbers with their products.

The iPhone XS and XS Plus seems to be the most logical! (and skip over 9)
Apple is scary if you think about it, if it were not for the competition like Google, Samsung, and LG to some extent for keeping the heat up... we probably would have only gotten what is the iPhone 8 and 8+ this year, then get the iPhone 9 and 9+ the year after that, and then only the year after that do we get the iPhone X with the radical new design. It would have been 2 years before we saw the iPhone X!

Could "Reboot" the lineup by calling it simply "iPhone" .
They’ve kind of hinted at what they were going to do with the naming convention this year. They skipped the 7s and went straight to 8. My guess is that in 2018, there will be a 9 (really 8s) with some incremental updates. There will also be the XI or 11 that will introduce the Plus version with updates and possibly another color added.
In 2019, full steam ahead with the XII or 12. There won’t be a new model of the 6/7/8/9 form factor. They will still be available in the iterations Apple sees worth continuing to offer for lower price entry, but that generation of design will be done for seeing updates.

I am okay with any result that does not see major updates to the X (or any updates) that makes me not feel the need to upgrade next year.
I don’t know. I thought about it, but I think Apple will keep the numbers. I can see them skipping the 9 altogether, especially if there will be a Plus size of the X.
As another thought, the 9 could be a “placeholder” as a just in case they aren’t able to implement the Plus version of the X for 2018... and please oh, please let me wrong about THAT!
