Holy crap people. If they are doing it, it's already done.
However, it looks like you should worry less about a missing ODD and more about a missing iMac.
From a professional point of view, removing the ODD from the iMac would be a mistake.
We have three iMacs online and the ODD's in all three machines are used on a daily basis.
To hell with hanging an external ODD off the side, that's dumber then removing the internal one that already exists.
If YOU do not want an ODD, get yourself an iPad, or a Netbook!
