Not yet. Things like this, if they have a solid foundation, can take years to properly take off. It took Spotify 4 years to see 5 million paid subscribers and given that Apple Music doesn't have a "freemium" service, I can't see a lot of those numbers switching over. Will we see it in the future? Perhaps. For right now? No.

No way. Most Spotify users use the free version and there's no way the average consumer will start paying. Not in the uk anyway, U.S. Might be different.
Isn't that part of the problem? That the free tier is what is causing Spotify to make losses.

Apple just needs to win over the paying subscriber base, leaving Spotify with the free tier and waiting for it to crumble under its own debts.

I think a decent amount of paying Spotify subscribers will switch over. The 6 user family plan for $15 is going to be really hard to compete with. Spotify have a problem where revenues are increasing but costs are going up at a higher rate. They won't be able to offer the same pricing plan as Apple music.

The ability to give the service away for free for 3 months means everyone gets to at least try it for a significant amount of time.

no, Spotify traffic isnt part of my data allowance on T-Mobile DE so that will keep me using it

God damn, this is what makes me wish T Mobiles coverage was better around here. Thought the other carriers would follow suit when TM did this, but they don't seem to care.

Oh and to answer OPs question: No.

That won't happen. Spotify is making a lot of money. It's the artists that are losing out and I doubt a paid model solves that problem. All it does is put more money in apple or spotifys pockets.

Pandora? No, not at all. Spotify? Not enough to kill it, but enough to impact its subscriber base.

No....
Apple Maps did not kill Google Maps
iTunes Radio did not kill Pandora

So,
Apple Music will not kill Spotify/Pandora
Beats One will not kill BBC Radio One (which I'm guessing is what they're trying to mimic?)

Yeah not really sure why the picked Zane low, the bloke was the most annoying person on Radio one (even more than fern cotton). But anyway i wonder how much apple will try and rob us in the UK, the UK always get done over by companies and charge 50% more for the same services found over the pond.

As long as There is no Apple music support in Sonos I am not interested as this is the main ecosystem I'm using Spotify right now.
Followed by listening in the car or on the go where Spotify streaming does not count to my data allowance.

If both these points have been addressed I would definitely consider switching, though...

Remember, spotify is already running at a monthly loss. It may be sustainable for the short term, but if apple music launches and begins to take current/perspective subscribers away, how long can they hold out? - I don't think they'll be going anywhere, but they must be damned worried

I doubt it but a big amount of people will switch and they will lose quite a few customers.
Yes Apple fans like the vast majority of this forum will but most average consumers don't buy every Apple product that's released.

I'll stick with my spotify. Been using it for 1 year now. Love it. I'll try the 3 free months from Apple music but I doubt it I'll fully make the switch.

I really like the sounds of Apple Music, and I'm excited to trial it.

The problem for me is, data. I get 5GB of data here in the UK. I feel that I'll be limited to using it on WiFi more than I should to take tracks offline etcetc. There are always times I want to quickly here a track that I think of.. and doing this a few times a day (when I want to do it there and then) will take up the best part of 1GB over the course of the month.

What? Spotify would be talking about the customers they are losing to Google? I don't think so...
Oh please. Stop being naive. We would find out the same way we find out about Facebook losing young users, Google+ losing all users, etc. My point: if Spotify was losing, we would know one way or another. DERP.

It is actually so predictable. Everytime Apple launches a new product someone starts a thread which says that they will kill off existing products. Example. "Apple watch is suppose to kill of Luxury watch makers like Rolex."
This is just another example of the same.

As a long time Spotify user, I am switching to Apple Music. I cannot stand Spotify's UI and Apple Music will have a larger catalog of music.
