The iPhone 17 and 17 Pro felt like as good as it's going to get for a while so my wife and I upgraded.

Anything can happen, obviously, but I don't see this getting better soon and I can't see Apple absorbing these price increases either. So I thought it was very likely they would either lower the cost or raise the price. Time will tell.
The 17 is a solid upgrade this year, and with the redesign for the Pro that only comes along once in a blue moon, I think you made a great choice 🙂

Really?? I have a 17 Pro on order, I hope it feels significantly better than the 15 I had, the aluminum build on that combined with the matte back felt pretty cheap, and it was tough to hold onto, sans case, without any polished surfaces
Yes, really. I have always used black leather cases however & my 17 Pro Max is in a black leather traditional Nomad case. If you’re rocking your iPhone caseless, I can’t speak to what your experience will be… 🤷

I think they’ll hold prices at $999 for the base Pro, but once the 20th anniversary edition comes out they’ll raise it at that time (like with the iPhone X). Then going forward that will be the new Pro base price.

"Hold prices at $999 for the base Pro"? The base Pro is already more than that at $1,099.

Having said that, iPhone prices have been relatively study over the years. For example, the price of a new 256GB 11 Pro back in 2019 was $1,149 and the new 256GB 17 Pro today is $1,099.

Now that memory chip prices are skyrocketing Apple is finally getting a normal margin instead of insane margins. No reason at all to raise iPhone prices.
I am waiting for lower Mac prices in Europe now that the dollar has weakened significantly against the Euro.

I got my 17 Pro (made in India) and it does look and feel very nice

I’d say it’s not exactly as "premium/luxury" feeling as the 11 Pro, but it has more of a "high end tool" feeling, like a Rolex vs a Cartier for the watch nerds among us

I like it a lot, and the battery life is even better than I expected! I had an Air, which I’ll still use for certain occasions, as the polished titanium and thin design just look so much classier, but as an everyday phone I’m liking the Pro so far
