Will Apple Watch 4 bought in US work outside usa?

So I want to know if I buy an Apple Watch 4 in usa will it work outside usa say in India? What features won’t work? Thanks!

Are you looking at cellular or the GPS-only version?

Apple sells different versions of the cellular watch based on region, but the GPS-only version should work anywhere if your paired iPhone supports iOS 12.

It should work the same as one you bought in India. Features that are restricted by region, such as ECG, would be restricted by your Apple ID country settings, not by the watch.

[edit] Apparently ECG is not restricted by Apple ID, but another method based on where the watch was purchased.

If you are buying the gps version yes it’ll work in India. The cellular version I believe only works in 4 countries.

Cellular function will depend on country and carrier, but other functions will still work fine, doesn't matter if it's GPS or cellular version.

So ECG will work if I use the watch in India but keep icloud setting to US account?

Now that the watchOS update is out can anyone confirm if the ECG works outside USA just by setting region to US? Thanks

I set the region of the watch. Didn’t work. Now I will try to set the phone and the watch

See that macrumor articles says watch bought outside US. I’m buying a watch in US and taking it abroad

Everything i've seen says is if you bought the apple watch series 4 in the US, the ECG feature will work abroad

Confirming it works, this is Apple Watch 4 40 mm GPS model, bought from US last weekend. Currently using in India, with apple India id and region set to India on iPhone and watch. Bought this for my dad and all I did was upgraded to 5.1.2 yesterday and the feature popped up with the upgrade. Taken the readings 5-6 times and it works brilliantly.

Won a series 4 40mm aluminium at work for £303 sealed bid which happens to be a US version, ECG works. Already have a SS 44mm so was kinda regretting winning (didn’t think I’d get it for £303), pretty happy now :-D

If the 3G bands are the same inthe US version and the Asia version... shouldn’t it work on cellular, just not LTE? I am waiting for my US Hermès 4 Cellular LTE to arrive in Thailand.
