Can confirm. I have a US Apple Watch S4 and a UK iPhone 7. As of updating to iOS 12.1.1 this morning, I am able to use the ECG app on the watch and phone in the UK.

Awesome, thanks.

How is cellular for the watch working in the UK? Are you on EE?

I spend time in both the UK and US, and I’d love to get the benefit of ECG and be able to use watch cellular in both markets by taking advantage of the iPhone XS dual sim feature.

So in other words, having both UK and US SIMs in my iPhone should allow me to use cellular for the watch in both the US and UK, correct?

Bummer, did some further research and it doesn’t look like a US model Apple Watch has the needed bands to work on UK cellular networks:
  • 800MHz (Band 20)
  • 900MHz (Band 8)
  • 1800MHz (Band 3)
  • 2100MHz (Band 1)
  • 2600MHz (Band 7)

Another bummer: it looks cellular is geo restricted based on model number.

So you can take a US purchased model and make it work on cellular in Canada (same model sold in both markets). However, European model won’t work on US cellular even though both markets use Band 5 LTE.

Hopefully Apple can drive better cellular watch roaming support in the next 12 months. It is particularly inexcusable that the watch is prohibited from roaming on cellular within Europe given that European law mandates free roaming support for phones. Anyone know what’s up with that?

What's worse, in Europe carriers use all sorts of subterfuges and confusion to sell you the apple watch cellular edition that doesn't support EU roaming.

I had an entire thread on twitter where Vodafone UK was assuring me that their apple watch cellular supported roaming thanks to "Onenumber" - only when I added in applesupport and they said that's incorrect, Vodafone backtracked and then claimed it was the phone that was roaming and the apple watch "in close proximity" was also roaming on the iphone's plan.
