AT&T is going to be such a cluster eff this year with the added traffic from subsidy folks. Everyone that used to order on Apple.com has to go there now. I preordered both from regular and premier on AT&T at past launches and it is always a disaster. No way they are prepared for this.

Just order, grab a stiff drink, and wait 30 days. Try not to come here or look at your order status. It will change so much you will go insane. Backorder will become a familiar status.

Only hope is that it is an "s" cycle with a bit less hype, but I have always bought on the "s" and that hasn't stopped them from being ill equipped to handle the orders. Unless AT&T has invested all this "Next" money in their internal ordering system and supply chain......... haha, right. The CEOs are drinking the good scotch with that money.

Sigh. Here we go again. Your statement is incorrect for those of us with UDP and FAN. We come out ahead with a 2-yr subsidy. It's black and white. The numbers do not lie.

I think the only scenarios where the MobileShare plans actually save money compared to the old school plans are if you paid for a ton of voice minutes, paid for 3GB or 5GB (with tethering), and/or you only had 1 or 2 lines.

If you are someone who can get by with 700 or 1400 minutes and 200MB, 300MB, 2GB with FAN, or UDP with FAN, and 3-5 lines, I think MobileShare actually increases how much you pay over 2 years after factoring in the cost of phones.

Next and mobile share plans only advantageous in certain categories ATT has really churned their plans away from customer value.

My late sept upgrade date at ATT.com is now gone. I'm now able to fully upgrade.

You end up paying about $480 for the phone if you get a 16GB model over two years with the UDP, $10 monthly line access charge. AT&T also raised their upgrade fees for two year agreements to $45. On next 12, you end up paying $435.50 over the 12 months.

Yeah, but when purchased on contract, the phone is yours to keep, and you can sell it and easily get more money back than you originally paid for it. On NEXT 12, you have to turn the phone in if you want a new phone, so all the payments you made are pretty much forfeited.

On some FAN plans, the $45 activation fee is waived. Starting a new NEXT plan now also charges a $15 activation fee.

Finally, in all states except California, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, you would pay sales tax on $200 on contract instead of sales tax on $650 on NEXT.

All states with sales tax that is. Go Oregon :)

For the 6,AT&T was the place to be as the site went live 7 minutes prior to schedule enabling us to order ahead of roughly a gazillion other folks. It may well vary this time around.

I do remember the site coming live and I was so shocked. Something still went wrong on my order and it cancelled for whatever reasons. I wouldn't put all your trust into the AT&T site, but you never know.

I'm about 50/50 between Apple site and AT&T. I have ordered from both depending on which one I could get into first. Last year it was AT&T because Apple was down - or not up yet, the year before I think was the year with no preorder so went to AT&T store and got it that morning. The year before that was Apple because AT&T site wouldn't work. All the other years it was try one then the other until I got in. Looks like it will just be AT&T this year so will have to wait and see. If the backorder is too long may try the store the day they go on sale.

I've discovered that even if the Apple website won't load, the iPhone/iPad app still works. That's how I was able to get my Apple Watch preorder in minutes after they started taking orders.
