Doubtful. The beta 4/5 thing just supports the theory that it was meant to be 2 weekly but got delayed due to dev centre hack. Bearing in mind that there's only one more beta before the GM on sept 10th, I suspect we'll get beta 6 next week, leaving a 3 week gap to GM.

That means nothing. Apple could've been planning to release it this way all along. They usually never follow patterns with the iOS betas.

In fact, they never have. Every single previous iOS iteration (except iPhone OS 2.2, which had only two betas) had betas released at irregular intervals.

There is no way to predict, based on past behavior, how many iOS 7 betas there are going to be, and when they will be released. Personally, I'm hoping for beta 6 today.

Who told you it was delayed?

The fact that it was published immediately after the dev portal came back online? I really don't care, I don't develop around beta schedules, but I think that whoever denies the "2-week beta release schedule" is rather obtuse.

Beta 4 didn't come out until three days later on the following Monday. I wouldn't consider that "immediately".

The chart above makes your assertion rather obtuse if you ask me.

Take a look at the chart I posted. There has never been a 2-week beta release schedule. Never. The only thing predictable about the timing of beta releases is its unpredictability.

Never knew that iOS 5 had 8 betas. I am confident we will see Beta 6 or even 7 for iOS 7, too much changes in this one

Pretty sure we'll see Beta 6 on 20th, and GM on Sep 10, that leaves 2 weeks between 5-6 and 3 weeks between 6-GM.

Denying something that isn't real isn't being obtuse, it's dealing with reality rather than some sort of imaginary wishful thinking.

I think it's perfectly clear that beta's are released when development milestones are met and not some arbitrary calendar date.

I was thinking about that today, and wondering how Apple decides its time to release another beta. I'll never know, of course, but I suspect it has to do with how much progress they're making squashing known bugs. Maybe if they think they've gotten most or all of them, they release another beta. But if they're only about halfway done with fixing known problems, maybe they wait until they've made more progress.

I still wanna know how these sources know how many betas there will be. Where are they getting this information from?

Judging by the anonymity, probably peeps in apple, or very close. Sources also have heads up before beta 2 & 3, since certain sites are trusting them, I'd say they must have some clout

What reliable sources?

Look around online, macrumors, BGR and 9to5mac all posted about it. Judging by the fact they all also ran articles about sources saying when beta 2 & 3 were coming out, I'm inclined to go with them. More reliable than people on here randomly guessing based on previous releases....

Guys Guys Guys it was me. I jumped into my TARDIS and went into the future and saw how many betas iOS 7 will have and I told BGR.

In that case, you should go and add something to the "Guess the iPhone 5S secret feature" thread. :)
