Getting your hands on this new iPhone 8 (or whatever they end up calling it) will be much tougher than last year's 7 release. It'll probably be back ordered for weeks if not months within the first few days.

Interesting how you think that AUP customers wouldn't qualify. That makes little sense.

I am AUP, but not entitled. I just want Apple to do their JOB and make enough phones for once. They blow the launches EVERY year lately and it's beyond annoying.

I woke up at 3AM to order and because I used the Apple Upgrade Program, my phone was delayed over a month. I checked store stock for about a week until I found one. I tried to buy a 7 Plus on Launch Day, but no one had one.

At the end of the day, it's just a phone. That display is going to have to be pretty phenomenal for me to go through the hassle of trying to get a Launch Day phone.

If The rumor serves correctly, production is actually slated to start in June 2017 versus late July early August. Which, hopefully will alleviate some of the restraint that we see on year to year basis. But again, part of the reason for the production might be for the OLED model that may take some more time to manufacture.

If the the rumors are true about the OLED model only having 5.15 inches of "usable" screen then I'll definitely be upgrading to the 5.5 inch Plus model. There will probably be plenty of those available.

No matter how many phones they make, there won't be enough to satisfy the entitled. Yes, I harp on it, but this idea that people are owed a phone or something... I just shake my head.

I think it'd be highly amusing to watch, if Apple didn't do pre-orders at all this time. But they won't do that.

I'm gonna keep score here because my intuition or spider sense is going off. And I am speculating here on some huge freak outs when IUP customers can't get the iPhone 8 or iPhone Pro

What you are attempting to predict has already happened. There have been people complaining on here over the years, when they couldn't get the latest iPhone the moment it went on sale.

Apple created the IUP specifically for people who upgraded yearly and, according to the keynote, make it "easier" for them to do so. Why would they do that if they didn't want people to feel like there is a very good chance, on a fair and level playing field, you could actually get a phone every 12 months? People can call it entitled to try and bring shame to having a certain expectation of availability but Apple is the one who created this expectation, not the participants.

In other words, don't create an "Upgrade Program" if the people that DON'T belong to the program have more access than those that do.

Yes, expect some uip members will be ticked off.

And no, uip members shouldn't be allotted all (or even the lion's share) of the new phones at launch. Reason why was discussed last September.

Stop trying to create drama...you don't need spider sense to predict some uip members will be disappointed and angry.
