Another reason I jailbreak.

I believe white is integral to Jony Ive's perspective of iOS since version 7. It hasn't changed since then (nor has the Fisher-Price/Playskool colors and interface). It's unlikely to change now as long as he thinks white is all that.

Jony Ive also designed the Mac OS, which also has iOS 7 design cues, and same with the Apple TV UI which also has iOS 7 design cues, and both of these offer a dark mode. Its gotta come to iOS soon!

Would be great in the next iOS update. So glad to see YouTube finally add dark theme option in the app.

In IOS 12?

I use it for twitter, Tapatalk and now YouTube

It’s available on Apple TV.

You think this is the year it arrives properly on iPhone and iPad?

How did you manage to get dark mode for Tapatalk? I've been looking around for ages and still haven't managed to find the option

TIA!

I feel like Dark mode is bad for using in the "outside" world with direct sunlight on the screen, the only advantage it can give is at night. Personally I'm not a huge fan of dark modes because of that.
If Apple comes with it I HOPE it atleast gives the option to toggle it on and off.

Which makes me wonder sometimes.

At what point does it go from being about the 'vision' and figuring out what customers want before they know they want it to…passive resistance against customer requests because of dogmatic pursuit of a goal? And just how much pushback are customers willing to take before they go elsewhere?

So far it seems that Apple offers enough other things to counter their intransigence over customer requests.

Until their lack of choice has a negative effect on sales, they’ll do what they want. At some point though, they’ll go to customization as a “feature” and everyone will love it. I expect complications and a dark mode in the next two years.

Hopefully it happens soon. I just got my ipx and love it but dark mode (smart invert ) is great but not on all sites or apps. Is there a way to toggle when in smart invert to normal and vice versa?

Yep just go to accessibility settings -> side button and set it to switch to smart invert with 3 clicks

I use this, it's a wonderful feature

Well yeah the only way I would want dark mode is if there’s an option to choose between the two different modes.

Sure but knowing Apple would they give us a choice between one or another? I doubt it...

I don't think so for one reason. Apple would only use a true dark mode (unlike Twitter and Youtube)
and the touchy and attention seeking media would completely turn it around and make apple look like they'r trying to hide the notch and that would be a bad look in the eyes of the average customers.
I believe that true Dark Mode will be launched whenever a notch-less iPhone does.

Hopefully I'm wrong.

I've been hoping for Dark Mode for a long time. I have never been a fan of being blasted with bright white light and much prefer a black background and yellow text (I spend a LOT of time in front of a screen). I use Dark Mode in Visual Studio when programming all day --- Chrome Browser's dark themes never really work all that well - you get used to dark screens only to be blasted in the face with a bright white screen.

I imagine a dark mode won't be easy and will take a lot of resources to implement otherwise it would have been done already. That said, jealous of JB'ed iPhones and their darkmode.

I was very surprised no dark mode UI with the launch of the OLED iPhoneX.

Perhaps they held off to maintain secrecy. IOS12 will be otherwise boring, perhaps it will be part of iOS12 as a energy efficient enhancement/upgrade for the X handsets.

All previous iPhone's to the X did not have this bezel (notch), and we still never had dark mode.

Sorry, I should have made it clearer what I meant, I think that Apple doesn't have a dark mode on the LCD iPhones because LCD panels aren't able to display true blacks like OLED can, and because the iPhone X has a ''notch'' it would make apple look like they are trying to hide it because true dark mode on an OLED would make it look like the phone is completely bezel-less (just like on the watches) Just what I think lol. I don't work at Apple or anything like that. Unfortunately.

I waited a dark mode for ios for so long, but since smart invert colours was introduced, its not on my wishlist anymore. Smart invert is basically a dark mode and even better with safari support now on 11.3 Yes there is still some improvements to make but overall I'm very satisfied with smart invert.

I want a real dark mode on MacOS first. finder, settings windows and menus all in a nice darker theme would be awesone.

Completely agree. I think smart invert is exactly Apple’s version of dark mode and they are never going to have a proprietary dark mode because of it. And, its just How Apple has a different way of doing things, which not everyone agree’s with.
