Everything about Mr. Adams just disgusts me. First he considers himself a "musician", now he has the audacity to have a hardware line. It's just disgusting and insulting to real musicians and designers. My opinion? No, it's a fact.
Can you work pro tools as well as him? Show me your most recent production work

I'll buy it if it has a macro attachment. Otherwise I just see this as another person trying to extract money out of the pockets of iPhone owners.

meh

How useless, we need better colour and whatnot, the megapixels are just fine. I don't want to waste space on my phone for no reason.

Anyone one who needs a picture that big isn't using a phone.

Wait, hardware "made by" "musicians" (I hate Black-Eyed Peas)? Is this going to end up like Beats by Dr. Dre?

The main question I have: Will it work with the regular apps that use the camera like an iSight camera would on a Mac, or do you need a special app for it?

What people need is something to make them stop recording videos vertically.

Now here is a sentiment that I can get behind. It drives me nuts how often people seem to be recording videos vertically these days (including my wife when recording videos of our kids). Our video playback screens (i.e. TVs) are not, never have been and never will be that orientation!

With regards to this camera idea, and all of the comments that have been posted about it, though it's not something that I would see much use for, I think that, depending on how it's implemented, what the price is, etc., it could be deemed useful by some.

Further, I'd guess that almost all of us would love to have the money at our disposal to be able to try to make our "great idea" and run with it. I don't begrudge Will.i.am his choice to do this. If he does it well, more power to him. If he does it poorly, then it's his money that'll go down the tube.

Just a bit if perspective...

That is not why people buy Hasselblad ...

They do it for the effective resolution which is a product of the large sensor and the high quality optics, and for the color accuracy and dynamic range.

IMHO too much is made out of Hasselblad. They were popular because of their large format cameras back in the days. Not for their optics.

Now other camera manufacturers have blurred the lines by release more resolution in their sensors that.

Will I Am or however you spell it came for an interview with Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear once.

Jeremy introduced him to the crowd as a noted fashion designer and then asked him...

"So what is this you are wearing? Looks like a golfing outfit"

LOL

Like Beats by Dre, you are paying premium for the celebrity name attached to some overpriced & clunky POS. Instead of gadgets, Will.i.am might consider sponsoring products more in line with what he is known for. Summer's Eve might be interested in him pitching for their line of douches.

I got this attachment, turned my iPhone into a 22.3 megapixel camera:

300px-Canon_EOS_5D_Mark_III.jpg

It is a little expensive and kinda bulky...

Back when all we had were iPods, this would have made sense. I always wondered why someone didn't build a camcorder where you could snap in an iPod classic and use its hard drive to record video, then sync it back to your computer.

You're reading my mind, I had the same thoughts... 5 years ago!

There is a certain point where its best to actually take the plunge and buy a digital SLR... This is it.

People are saying pixels don't count???? I just finished doing a shoot on a 40 MP camera and it makes a huge difference to my normal camera that shoots at 22 MP. on top of the quality it is the fact that you can start cropping the image to still deliver a shot that has enough in it to produce a huge print at no loss in quality.

I know you know what is critical for image quality is the physical size of the sensor and for a 40 MP camera, I'm guessing you have a medium format camera. So yeah, those 40 MP allow you to heavily crop and still make a print larger than 99% of users ever will.

Until someone reveals what the actual size of this 14 MP add-on camera is, I'm going to assume it's a big waste.

Would have been a great idea, but I don't think that Apple allowed things to interact with iPods like that, did they? You would probably have to have a third party app to make it work, which, other than games, I don't think that Apple had for iPods.

and that's probably because I'm a photographically layman but: if you have to adorn your already costly smartphone with a lot of appendages (that are costly too) to turn it into a decent camera aren't you better off buy buying a decent camera in the first place? A Fuji X100 or something like that? I really, really don't get it. Or Apple could design a decent camera that runs on IOS.

The iPhone camera is actually not that bad. Basically you have a cheap sensor, and some very, very powerful image processing software. The image processing software very much improves the quality.

With a 14 Megapixels addition, I'd have to ask first if the sensor is bigger than the one in the iPhone camera. If it isn't, the 14 Megapixels don't buy you anything, just more noise. Second, can it use the iPhone software that Apple uses to enhance image quality on the iPhone? If not, it may not be of any use.

So I wouldn't bet that you actually get much improvement for your money.
