no it wont

You obviously have no clue and have never been involved in an iPhone launch. That and you apparently didn't read the news that demand is 10x that of the 3Gs.

The fact is that the OP MIGHT get lucky and walk into a store somewhere at just the right time, but the probability of that happening is EXTREMELY low.

The best option is to wait a few days and watch store stock levels. When you see they have some in stock that don't sell out right away, then walk in.

Yes it will. All other launches have had LONG lines, and this has been the highest demand ever. 600,000 is an absolutely massive number for 24 hours. You're naive to think that the lines will be minimal or nonexistent.

sorry, but you're wrong. i walked in during the iphone 2g, 3g, and 3gs and got in/out in 10 minutes. no preorder, no reservation.

It's easy to assume every store will sell out of iPhone 4s BEFORE noon on the 24th. And, if you're not the first 100 in line you're out of luck.

Opening day? Then you must live in a town where stock outpaces demand.

And the fact is, that is rare. So telling the OP that this will be the case would be irresposible. What we are telling the OP is more likely the case than your situation.

Let me help anyone out who happens to live in SE Pennsylvania.

When the 3gs came out on launch day, my local AT&T store in Coventry (near Pottstown on Route 100) had about 12 people there, that's it, plenty to go around, I even had an interested co-worker call a few days after and they still had stock. Trying this store is definitely a better solution than in Philly, King of Prussia, etc.

Now an even better scenario. Just up Route 100 from the AT&T in Coventry is a brand new AT&T store in Boyertown that is about a month old. It is at the new Giant Shopping Center and telling by the traffic that makes it to Giant, hardly anyone knows it exists. Do not confuse this Giant Shopping Center with the new one in Pottstown, go up Route 100 another 6-7 miles and the "newer" Giant Shopping Center is on your right.

I personally would have done this myself but opted to order online as getting to the store on that day would require towing an 8 and 5 year old along who can't sit still to save their lives let alone wait in line.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the advice, it is a big help. Cool user name too :)

I was seriously tempted to make a Jersey joke when I saw the OP's location. I'll refrain.

casually walk into a line as long as big foot's dick, yeah sure.

It's usually good form to put a wink on your post so that we know that your kidding. Humor is fine, but why waste people's time responding back and forth for a while and then say "just kidding".

people are willing to wait hours for a phone. i really don't think people care about wasting their time

hahaha im walkin in just like prince. f a line. but really, think about all the people that ended up with 2 or more phones on pre order cause att sucks and had to screw that up. i have seen a lot of reports of that, and thats gonna save alot of stock. also, apple has been receiving enough supply to make 3 million phones per month. i am almost 100% sure anyone who wants an iphone is gonna walk out with one on day 1.

OP- - - if you're really serious here is two pix from the 14th street location (From 2G to 3GS). . . I didn't camp out but I did go at 7am and it was pretty long.

I took this after about an hour of waiting, I still wasn't close to the store.

I was just about to enter the store and the line when I left was around the corner by then.

I really suggest if you're going to camp out go extremely early. I for one will not. . . mainly because no white model is available

And I was about to make an even bigger PA joke but I realized how stupid stereotypes are.
