how hard is it for people to log onto their account and check upgrade it tells you right there... swear some people are dumb.

After reading this thread I had to go check my eligibility. I though this display on the ATT site was completely clear:

Yes, some people are dumb, specially those that don't read the previous posts.

And some are simply not AT&T customers, and they live not in the US.

I do live in the US, and also an AT&T customer, since the first model. Even that I paid the full price $600, my account info only showed that I was not eligible for the discounted price for the 3G and for the 3GS.

My suggestion is that you go to the store and talk to the store manager.

I just called the number and got the txt. I can get a discount Dec 22, though when my mom went to the ATT store, they said Sept if we do another 2yrs. I really don't want to commit to another 2yrs. Today is my 1yr with them and it sucks. Guess I'll pay full price for the 4Gen. hopefully its no more than the current $499/$599 for a 8/16GB. ugh.Should get at least $100 back though since I'm gonna sell my 3G online.

My account on the website didn't say a date either so i called the number and got the text. It says I'm not eligible until 11/17/10. I got the 3gs the day it came out last year but I only spend $75 a month so I guess Ill have to pAy extra to upgrade. Hopefully they will make an exception like last year. I think if your willing to sign up for ANOTHER 2 years on top of what you have left in your current contract you should get the best upgrade price.

I find it odd that I got my iPhone 3G in Jan. '09, and my upgrade date is 9/15/10 while 3GS users have earlier dates in June/July.

Oh well. I'm buying it the day it comes out regardless of my upgrade eligibility. The battery life on my 3G is dwindling and my vibrate toggle and volume rocker are partially broken. But no scratches :)
