Damn, you are going to cost me some coin.

I was hesitant to buy one because I was unsure how it would react to iOS 7. I like the OS alot since installing on my Mini yesterday and that device is too big for me to want to use the new Itunes Radio alot. Enter the Touch 5G. I am going to get one for sure now unless you tell me it isn't good with that.

I am not planning to load any labor intensive games on it anyways. Just music mostly and some browsing. No video either since I have a Mini for those other things.

Oh, and the flashlight. Cannot see using that with the Mini. :)

Forgot that I sync all songs not just checked. I have the checked songs only sync to my 16gb iPhone 5. I have about 1200 songs on my 32gb iPod touch 5.

No problems here either. I waited until today to install it after all the trouble I had with my iPad last night. Everything is nice and smooth.i have a 64GB 5th gen.

Good news about iOS 7 on the 5th gen iPod touch, think I will grab one then and thanks for posting experiences.

My Mini misses some of the features available like just in the control center there is no flashlight because of no flash so understandable. But no quick access to the calculator? Why Apple did not make the OS uniform to all devices I have no clue where applicable.

Yes if anything IOS 7 is smoother and more responsive on my touch than on my Ipad mini, go figure

About 36 hours with iOS 7 on my iPod Touch, no lag either. I'm sure it has bugs but it's been great so far. I especially love Control Center, given the lack of an ambient light sensor.

Early yet, but iOS 7 is running beautifully. Two apps that I use daily, Numbers and Weekcal, have in the past run slowly or been slow to open on iPT 4. They were the reason for my upgrade to iPT 5. They both run great. Adding a form in Numbers has always taken a few seconds and that hasn't changed but it may be marginally quicker. Weekcal opens quickly and is much sn- no I won't go there.

update: Numbers a little buggy, some blind data entry demanded.

I have an iPod Touch 5th gen/32g (about 12g free) that is not performing well with iOS7. There is noticeable jitter while scrolling. So far I don't like the update well enough to put up with that.

eta: Just restarted the device (to change font weight) and the jitter is gone. Scrolling is silky smooth again.

Even on iOS 6.1.3 on an iPod touch 5th Gen I also got that jitter occasionally, switching it off/on usually fix it or a restart. Do you like the 7 so far though? Most of the game updates requires iOS 7 now.

Well, this thread is almost a year old..what's iOS 8 gonna be like on the iPod Touch 5th Gen.?

I don't have mine anymore, so I guess I won't find out.

Back when I had my iPod touch 5, there wasn't any significant lag. A few hiccups, sure, but nothing too drastic.

I think iOS on the iPod touch 5 is going to be pretty bad. Kinda like the iPhone 4 now and what it will be like on the iPhone 4s.

Already I'm noticing lag on my 5th Gen. Touch... not as much as the 4th Gen. but still there. I only have 43 apps, (and seldom have more than a few open at the same time) but once a week or so I re-start the player and this frees up some RAM. Often, my Nano is faster at browsing music files.

My Xperia Z has 2Gbs of RAM. I don't think 512mb on the Touch is enough to make it very future-proof. What do you think?

U don't have enough storage ! ,, my iPod touch was very fast in iOS 6 ( 32 GB storage )

BTW : how many songs do you have ?!

how else will apple get you to buy a new one
some possibilites:
-bigger screen
-higher pixel density
-sapphire crystal screen
-touch id
-motion and sound coprocessor
-health sensors
-8mp camera with true tone flash
-thinner
-lighter
-ac wifi

Of that list, Bigger screen is the only + that would get me to upgrade

Higher pixel density, no need, Retina is already as high as you need by definition, you don't NEED to go higher because there would be no gain in fidelity only an increase in the power needed to run the screen, for a retina screen, higher pixel density is like infinity + 1, pointless.

Sapphire crystal screen, meh, you wont notice the difference until you drop the thing., and , touch whatever the office desk wood substitute is, i haven't dropped a phone once since my old windows CE smartphone (cracked the plastic badly)

Motion and sound co-processor, just what i need, a phone that's constantly spying on my location and listening to whats going on around me to sell my location and listening preferences to advertisers to spam me (or worse yet, the NSA or a hacker to listen to my private conversations)

Health Sensors, why do i need my phone to tell me i sit at a desk too long, i know this, im not going to do anything about it because i need my job.

Camera upgrade, again Meh, this is now expected, not a selling point.

Touch id, Meh, don't use it, i haven't found it to be quicker unlocking my phone than entering 4 numbers , maybe if the implementation across apps in ios8 actually works, i will, but its not a feature ill upgrade for.

Thinner + Lighter generally = worse battery life = worse product, as a whole the iphone range would be better if it was a little heaver and a little thicker and had a battery that lasted.

Dont care about wifi, period, its nice to have, but with 20mbps up and down stream on 3G here in manchester, i dont even enable my wifi at home anymore (also i have unlimited data)

the selling points of any smartphone are battery life, app-ecco system, and how good the data connection and audio are for data and phone calls, NOT a load of fluff stuff..unless you really want the fluff, then fine.

But apple, well, they do kill the old hardware off by "upgrading" them to obsolescence, various hack team proved that with the 3G-4-4S updates, i cant remember which one apple said wouldn't work on the 3G, but one of the Jailbreak teams got it all working on the 3G, better than the "official" apple upgrade did on the 3Gs because apple wanted to show the newer models as being "snappier" they crippled the old models to make them seem slower.

On top of that they leave out "features" that old models will run fine, because again, it makes for a artificial perceived value gap between the old and new model.

I am not complaining, its perfect marketing, but don't try and justify them on anything else. Apple make products and they make profit on selling them, its in their interest that they make those products to only last 2-3 years if all you care about is the latest greatest shiney toy, and they do that by making the old stuff seem "older" artificially, slow the old down with "upgrades" and leave out new "features", im sure microsoft are kicking themselves they didn't do this years ago.

I doubt it...
U could make the comparison as the iPod touch 5 on ios 8 will be like the iPhone 4 on ios 7 now because the iPhone 4 on ios 7 has a 4 year old A4 chip...and the iPod touch 5 on ios 8 will then have a 4 year old chip....

But again, the a4 is a lot less powerful than the a5
And ios 8 will likely be different in computer consumption than ios 7...,

I think it may be a bit rough but I think it won't be too bad...
