There are probably thousands dead or dying. There are Polynesian islands under the threat of total demolition & submersion.

As much as I love my Apple products - anything other than a quick mention on the news of the iPad 2 when such devastation is on going would be a betrayal of humanity and utterly shameless.

Of course if you watch Fox News and consider E! to be a legitimate source of anything then your already down with that.... ;)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

This thread strikes me as...rather tasteless.

Of course the tsunamis news will dominate, as it should, it is real news, and real people are dying.
I don't know about the USA but there is always a puff piece of news in the main news broadcast. If it is the same over there apple is most likely to get that spot.
However if they get no coverage, on a day like today, that is how it should be.

Having a new iPad is great and all. But this earthquake is real life stuff. My thoughts and prayers are with the people who are effected by this disater. iPad can wait.

There's nothing inherently wrong with discussing how major news in the world can affect Apple. The timing of this thread and the sensitivity of the issue seem however to have caused a slew of insults and name-calling (now cleaned up), so the thread is now closed.
