This may sound a bit strange but try Sam's Club.
Last year when I got the iPad 3 there literally was no line at all and I just walked in, paid and left all in less than ten minutes. (Plus it's a little cheaper than at the Apple Store but that's beside the point).
Although you need a membership however you can just go in the day before and sign up, then cancel after buying your iPad. It's totally allowed since Sams Club allows the return of one's membership for any reason before it's expiration date.
So yea, if you have a Sam's Club in your area try there on launch day!
