Not sure if this has been asked since Monday but I am on the 'S' upgrade cycle so would normally upgrade this year, however, I'm having a hard time justifying it over simply buying the 6 Plus contract free when it comes down in price at the 6S launch. New camera and force touch would be worth the extra $$'s to me.

The only thing that might change my mind is whether the 6S Plus would be able to do multitasking like the iPad Air 2. I'm assuming the restriction is due to the processor and the new iPhones will have enough processing power to do this. Obviously they couldn't announce this on Monday, but does anyone think this feature will be on the new plus iPhone in the Fall?

i think restriction is due to ram, if the next phones will have 2gb of ram like the ipad air 2, maybe they will support all the new features.

but apple could decide to let them be only ipad exclusives in order to differenciate the products, or maybe to implement them only on iphone 6s+, or on both 6s and 6s+... quite hard to predict...

I think it will have some sort of multitasking improvements that will set it apart from the iPhone 6+, most likely if they include a tri-core chip with 2GB RAM and 8-core gpu like the iPad Air 2.

The 6S Plus most likely will follow the iPad Air 2 with 2GB of RAM. The iPhone 6S Is a maybe for 2GB of RAM if Apple increases the screen size to 5".

I feel like they must include 2GB of RAM in both models. Not only have they not increased the amount of RAM since 2012, but they have to be thinking of future iOS versions that will likely need the extra RAM.

They will most likely add 2GB to both iPhone models, however I fell the 6S Plus will take advantage of the split screen multitasking due to the screen size.

theres some sort of multitasking in every new phone model in the market. cant tell how much more will be in the next model.

iPad mini 2 will support it, so is not just matter of chip
where did you find this information? on the site it seems to me that they refer only to ipad air 2 for split view...

Air, Mini 2 and 3 have Picture-in-Picture and Slide-Over. Air 2 has those and Side-by-Side. Nobody seems to get it.

I've tried MW on an LG G3, and it's simply too small. The phone is huge, but running 2 apps? No. That said, I'm really not sure if the 6S plus will have this. Just don't really see it being useful.

Don't Samsung phones have split view to multitask? I could it it working in landscape mode well.

Picture-in-Picture is something I would love to have on the iPhone 6S+. When Samsung first launched it a couple of years ago, I thought it was a gimmick. But now that Apple is doing it also, I am on board. I am such a hypocrite.

Yeah I agree. The iPhone screen is just too small for that iPad Air 2 style multitasking to be useful. I'd be very surprised if Apple added it to the 6S and 6S Plus. It's the definition of adding a novelty feature just for the sake of having it rather than actually being useful. Not really what they're known for doing.

I dunno. The 6S maybe, but the 6S+ is a reasonably large device.

i didn't get that picture in picture was available also for other devices, but at least i'm glad to learn that i'm not the only one... :) i've checked just now on apple.com and it seems that you are right.

anyway, side by side is the most useful addition out of the 3, almost for my type of usage, and i am happy that on ipad air 2 works.

I respectfully disagree, 100%. I'm an owner of the 6+ and disappointed it's not coming to this phone. I understand hardware limitations may be the main issue. I've owned every iPhone model (except 3GS) and I really enjoy them. However, if iPhone 6S + is not said to have the multi window (2 app on screen side by side) added, I plan on going to Android. The 6+ screen is large enough to usefully run 2 apps side by side, and there are many reasons/situations where this would be useful. So if the 6+ screen size is acceptable, the 6S+ having the same size or close and newer upgraded hardware should be no reason to not include it. For those of you who think it's too small, the answer is simple: Do not use the feature. But don't simply dismiss it because it does not benefit you, as I see a lot of people asking for this feature. The LG G4 has it and it works, and looks great.

I used quite a few apps side by side in my testing of the G4. The screen size is 5.5 inches, same as iPhone 6+. I also want picture in picture. The ability to have the FaceTime video going while doing something else would be great! Also, watching a movie while catching up on emails would be a plus.

I can't see Apple adding multitasking to the 6s and 6s Plus, if it was going to happen then i think Apple would of announced it at WWDC as one of IOS 9's features.

They wouldn't announce it for a phone that is not out yet. Which means, to me, the 6S and 6S+ will get it, but it won't be available for the current gen 6 and 6+. Most likely due to RAM.

That's an interesting point, it could also be why we are hearing about iPad's being announced at the September event, maybe Apple want to push the multitasking features and with the new iPhones and also the new (rumoured) iPad Pro. It's a thought, however i could be wrong and it's likely that's the case but it would make sense Or the iPad Pro will be announced in October. I did read a rumour that Apple is planning to announce the iPad Pro with IOS 9.1, maybe this would add the multitasking feature to the new phones?

IOS 9 multitasking works on the ipad air 2 right now. There is no forward statement to make because the current ipad 2 has more RAM and can support the feature. It is a given that this will be in the next generation ipads as well. The iphones are more of a question at this point.
