You guys are all saying that the iPhone 6 4.7 and 5.5 will have more stuff only because it costs more. Uhmm... The iPad mini with Retina Display and iPad Air; only things (other than size) that are different:
1. Battery, obviously, larger screen to power, you need more battery for the Air
2. Processor, retina mini is 1.29GHz, iPad Air is 1.39GHz... The difference is so
small that in average day to day use, there is no difference.
3. Screen quality, iPad Air has better color saturation, however, it is not really that noticable unless you compare. (First hand experience)
Yet, 16GB iPad Air... 499$. 16GB iPad mini with Retina Display... 399$.
So, why are you guys so deadset on the iPhone 6 5.5 inch having more things (significant things at least) than the iPhone 6 4.7? What's the point in calling them both the iPhone 6 if they have completely different specs? This will cause inconsistencies in their product lines. How come someone can get a smaller retina iPad mini that is just as good as the air, when they can't get a smaller iPhone which still is just as good as the bigger iPhone?
That will essentially cheat some more uninformed people out of their money. Our example here got a product called iPhone 6, why is their friends iPhone 6 better, just because it has a bigger screen? (which our example did not want, it seemed too big) They are both called the same thing, yet one possesses quite a large difference in terms of performance and features than the other.
A lot of people want a small phone, but want to have the latest and greatest. This will pretty much tempt those who want a more powerful device with more features into spending probably 100$ or so more just so they can have more stuff, but they have to try and live with a much much larger screen than what they would like.
That is why I do not think it will be overly fair for the 5.5 to have better specs (aside from givens, like battery) than the 4.7, especially when both will presumably be called the iPhone 6.
