it takes more than that to be a CEO of a company. For example, he might have implemented the strategy of the Apple Silicon transition, but there is no mention of what contributions he made to make that change in the first place. Apple needs someone with vision at the helm, not just execution.I hope so. He really is the best candidate. An engineer at heart, he fostered the Apple Silicon transition and other good hardware decisions inside Apple.
It's time we have a product person as the CEO, and not a financial suit.
Steve Jobs was ousted as well and came back. Look how that turned out lol.Tony Fadell would be kind of a baffling choice.
Although he was apparently pretty much single-handedly forced out of the company by Scott Forstall, so it would be one heck of a return story.
Not really.Wasn’t Tony Fadell advocating building the iPhone with the old iPod operating system?
Not really the same thing at all.Steve Jobs was ousted as well and came back. Look how that turned out lol.
He's been away from technology too long to have a deep idea of what all the critical issues might be.Two words: Scott Forstall
No disrespect to Ternus, but I think Tony Fadell would be the better pick. He's the only former senior Apple exec that I'm aware of who's had a successful entrepreneurial track record after leaving Apple. Nest has been quite successful, and he's proven that he's a capable CEO, a consummate product person and having worked at Apple and alongside Steve Jobs, he knows and understands the culture. It's time for the Tim Era to be in the rear view mirror. John would be a great pick from what we've seen. But, like their new product release schedules, Apple will drag out the transition as long as possible.
So did Steve Jobs.He always came off as such a prick.
He would be my #1 pickTony Fadell would be kind of a baffling choice.

I would take Forstall over Ive every time. Ive is seriously overrated and the last thing Apple needs is to double down on form over function. We need a CEO who actually cares about functionality.Johnny Ives is the obvious guy. Should be an artist as CEO, same as Jobs.
Ternus is 50 and has worked at Apple since 2001. He is known for being dependable and good at following orders with an obsessive attention to detail. Colleagues describe him as calm, emotionally intelligent, logical, and conservative. He purportedly took the fall for Apple's butterfly keyboard internally, which earned him respect. He also led the transition of the Mac to Apple silicon to much success. These situations are said to have helped Ternus earn Cook's trust.
