Carrier stores might be easier. At apple store people start lining up a few days before, sometimes even starting Tuesday night/Wed morning. At carrier stores if you get there Thursday night you should be set.

You don't need to line up in queue to just check the display models out.
yep. got that.
thanks

I'm jealous of everyone that is near an Apple store. My nearest one is 2 hours drive time away 🙁
heh.. in my case, there's an Apple store in my exact neighborhood and 9 of them within 4 miles 🙂
(that said- i hardly ever go to them.. maybe once a year.. or less)

Here in Miami I have 5 Apple stores close to me. Aventura. Miami Beach. Brickell. Dadeland. The Falls. They are always packed and I’ve been to all of them. With iphone X I skipped the pick up in store. I’m getting it shipped to my office 11/3. I’m officially over the pick up in store on launch day.

It's going to be full-on chaos with the people lining up overnight plus those doing in-store pickup. I'm not getting within a 1/2 mile radius of my local Apple Store on launch day.

Michigan is cold now ... next week gotta be more cold
and people start stand 4 or 5 am morning in cold
windy and freeze that is not good idea

I’m in LA and can think of 4 locations around me. If lines are that long when I get there, I’ll just head back home and keep checking online. 😱

If you want a sim-free model which is basically Verizon iPhone without their simcard, why don't you just get it from Verizon website with a new activation? You can cancel their service the minute iPhone X is delivered. Yes, you will be paying an extra $30 activation fee. But it usually take weeks if not months for Apple to offer sim-free version if it is not introduced at release.

Here in Winnipeg, the temp is projected to be -10c (14 Fahrenheit) on Thursday nite.
I still plan to line up, because my ship date of Nov 21-28 is unacceptable.
The cold weather may work to my advantage!

Damn im in TX and the weather is supposed to be in the 70s Thursday night. Not complaining, but that'll definitely bring out more people to line up!

They will be so long that they had to come up with a new word to describe it instead of "long."

The lines will be lengtheranormicus.

Where do you live? I live in a small town an hour north of San Francisco and we have 1 Apple store between us and San fran. People lineup the night before. But still only about 50 people in line before opening. One hour before probably won’t cut it!

off topic.....but how are you doing after the fires?

It was hard to watch thirty - forty people leaving when group of Apple retail employees came out very early in the morning at the entrance of the mall for PSA stating that they wouldn't have any iPhone 7 Plus for in-line customers. They've already been warned that they might not get iP7Plus, still tried by then. So yeah, it could be worse than last year since Tim said on the interview that they will have some on launch day.

Ugh, now it’s all about cleanup and rebuilding. We are finally home but a lot aren’t. Went threw a neighborhood yesterday that got burnt and it was hard to see, it left it all to dust.

Depends where you are I think.

The days of 100’s of people queuing overnight are numbered I think. Most people order online these days I would say. It seems like a massive waste of time to me and not something I’ve ever wanted to do.

You don't need to line up in queue to just check the display models out.

Last time I stood in line (though this was like 5-6 years ago), you had to wait in line to be let into the store. So yes, you had to wait in line to check out display models.

I live in a medium-sized southeastern city and we have just one Apple store here. I was at the Apple Store yesterday (Sunday 10/29) and they already had barriers in the parking lot blocking out about 3-4 parking spaces in front of the store.

The stores along the 101/134 (Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley) usually have stock longer than other stores. I remember getting my 5S in Simi Valley because they were the only store to have the one I wanted a few days after launch.

Living in London I have six Apple stores within easy reach of me. 😉

Here we have quite a few of them too, but the cherry on the cake is 2 with a few hundred yards of each other (2 malls, connected to each other, one each side of the same street. Both have an Apple Store). One of them is typically MUCH calmer than the other though, so if I were to line up, I'd choose that one.

How funny would it be if stores has much larger supplies than the online preorders? If I recall correctly, it was pretty easy to walk into the Apple Store in the weeks following the release of the 7/7+ and buy one on the spot (as long as you went early in the day) while people were still waiting for their preorders they ordered the day preorders started.
