Will "Tax Free Weekend" affect your purchases?

I was in the "ibook waiting crowd" and when they updated it I knew tax free weekend was coming up, so I waited and placed an order this weekend, tax free.

NC store was very packed most of the weekend, and in Durham the early risers waited hours the first day to buy their computers. It also encouraged me to buy more add-ons at the same time, rather than waiting. I got the wireless keyboard and speakers while I could get them without tax. Otherwise, I probably would have waited and saved the money until I "recovered" from the computer purchase.

How do you find out if your state has a tax free day/weekend??

I live in Ohio and will be going back to school soon, so i was woundering if Ohio had something like this!

Having a tax-free weekend here in NC does influence my buying patterns. Last year at this time, I bought a new Sony desktop PC (my main desktop)... this weekend, I bought a PowerBook. It helped that I made about $400 from a garage sale on Saturday... combined with the tax savings ($161 on a $2149 purchase), it made sense for me to go ahead and make the jump.
