Any news?

dude the 9th is a MUSIC event, which means that all announcements will only pertain to iPods, iTunes, and Apple TV. They aren't going to announce refreshes on macbooks or iPhones or anything else.

I don't get the whole "I hate the glossy" thing. I use my 13MBP in rooms only lit with bright florescent lighting for 6-10 hours a day (law student, not fun), and the glossy screen doesn't bother me in the slightest. What are you people doing outside for extended periods of time that you can't have a glossy screen? Are you doing your video editing outside? You aren't in a studio? Hard to believe.

The issue is completely overblown.

Been there with the law school thing - not fun.

But some of us find the glare on the glossy either incredibly distracting or very tiring to look at for hours on end or both. If you don't mind then that is great, but for some of us it is a huge deal. I like to get outside to do work when I can, and find the glossy screen impossible. Also, in my office, I have floor to ceiling windows that get the afternoon sun over my shoulder and cannot stand the reflection and glare from the windows.

I cannot stand anything but a Matte Screen. As a result I waited (painfully) for the matte to be reintroduced. I would have bought the 15 inch MBP as soon as it came out if there was a matte screen, and I was in desperate need of a replacement. But instead I waited as my old machine limped along waiting for a suitable replacement. Within a week of the 15 inch matte coming available I placed my order. I'm now just awaiting its delivery.

Many love the glossy, but many cannot find them workable in the slightest. Optionality is good, especially when there is a sizable contingent demanding the option. I really think it should be an option for all - but Apple is only just realizing that there are some issues that one size does not fit all.

By the way good luck with the rest of school - it isn't fun, but you'll look back on it more fondly.
