I have a couple nice pairs of Bluetooth headphones and speakers which are great for music. There's a ton of lag watching a movie or playing a game though. I have to use the removable wire on my headphones if I'm going to watch a movie. Not a big deal if the manufacturer releases a cable I can buy to fill that role.

Eventually the traditional headphone jack will go away. When it will happen is the question. I'm sure not tied to the ancient tech. I'd be happy if they push things forward sooner, rather than later.

Bluetooth headphones suck. They are OK for music. But like you said, they lag for other things. There are pairing issues and you have to keep them charged.

I travel a lot for work. My ear buds are versatile enough to make Skype for Business calls all day and use for my iPhone or iPad when I travel. No adapters. No charging.

I'm all for moving forward with technology....if it was something that was actually moving forward. Other than some total bull fertilizer about superior audio quality (while listening to compressed audio), there is no 'advancement' to removing the headphone jack. (Other than advancing Apple's profit goals by selling lightning equipped headphones.)

I feel the exact same way. Well written post.

I think headphone jack will be eliminated on iPhone soon. It is not necessarily a bad thing either, as much as I love good audio, there are already superior options for wireless listening on the go–headphones like B&W P5 Wireless sound nothing short of brilliant.

Ok, but how do you watch a movie or playa game wirelessly? That lag is horrendous.

I read (http://www.pcmag.com/news/345610/iphone-7-rumors-bigger-camera-maybe-a-headphone-jack) that the headphone jack will not go away with the iPhone 7, but no way to confirm this rumor and I guess nobody knows. So whats your vote? I sure hope that they go with 3 units and one that retains the headphone jack because I sure use it and want it in my unit when my upgrade time comes for my iPhone 6.

There'll be adapters available even if they remove it. I wouldn't worry about it at all. When it comes to deciding whether or not to upgrade the device we all use all day every day for jillions of things, the existence (or not) of a headphone jack is of almost no consequence.

who knows they may even provide an adapter in the box..oh maybe not but hopefully they won't cost too much

end of the day if you are paying 60--900 on a phone is paying for an adapter really that much of a problem?

It will be for me, and enough so that I won't move to the 7 or 7S if it lacks one.

For me it would be. When it comes time to upgrade I will move to the 6S with more memory.

If you're still able to listen to your music with your existing headphones, why does the specific interface matter so much that you'd abstain from getting a newer phone?

What bugs me the most is that part of the reason for its removal is to make the iPhone THINNER. It doesn't need to be thinner! It needs to get a little thicker if anything. Bigger battery plus headphone jack plus slightly thicker phone would be tremendous. Sadly that's not going to happen.

I agree...more battery capacity is needed. Really don't understand Apple if this is true.
