Title pretty much says all. What is the possibility of me being able to purchase an iPhone 3GS 16GB 3 days after the release date? Will they all be sold out and I'll have to wait for a week or so?

if you live close to an apple store, you should be good

maybe not because some wont be doing the upgrade to the 3G S
if it was a hardware and software change, than i might think different
My local Apple stores got shipments daily during last years launch. But that could be because I live 5 min. from Apple HQ, so we get priority?
I too will have to wait until the week after it releases as I am leaving early on the 19th for a trip. I was hoping to be able to pick it up the following week. I do have two apple stores close to me.

well i know hands on that my local nyc area apple stores keep an amazing supply of stocked phones.
not sure about the uk but your apple store is the best bet IMO

My local Apple Store (Bullring) had good stocks last year. There was a page on apple.com/uk last time that was updated every night to show the stock levels for all the Apple Stores. I think O2 also ran something similar.
