http://9to5mac.com/2011/09/15/new-york-times-iphone-announcement-in-weeks-yes-we-have-more/But heres some real info: Weve heard that there are indeed two different models of iPhone coming out next month (announced this month?) We still think October 7th is the scheduled release date give or take any delays. Weve heard the low-end model, which is essentially an iPhone 4 look-alike (glass front and back), is rolling off the assembly line in big numbers right now. Apple expects to have 10+ million of these things on hand for launch and full ramped production into the holiday shopping season. These will be priced aggressively and be everywhere.
They will also be offered in both prepaid and post paid plans (this is a big deal more to come on that).
It won't cost me a dime because I'm not getting it. Just got the 4 back in December and don't have $850+ laying around to pay for early termination and actually buying the phone.
Unless you're with some crazy obscure carrier, I think your math may be a bit off.
My iphone 4 costed me 870 unlocked!! So yes I thing the iphone 5 will be expensive, but I don't care ill just buy it when it comes out!

Only the original (not subsidized, at first) iPhone cost $499 (4gb)/ $599 (8gb). All of the subsequent releases have been $199/$299. They will keep this pricing structure. For subsidized iPhones, there will not be either a $250 or a $350 price point.
Apple doesn't set the $199/299 price, that is the carriers. Apple will price the phone at the $650/750 price points (or whatever they are now). If Verizon wants to attempt to seek it for $100 more than other carriers on contract that is their prerogative, but it would probably not go over well.I really hope Apple keeps their base price at $199 and makes Verizon look silly for trying to create a new standard price of flagship phones being $299 even with a contract. Greedy ****s!![]()

No.I think he means without a carrier, here in holland it will cost us around 800 euros without carrier
What's with this 200.00+ pricing on a contract?
You can get the iPhone 4 somewhere at 99 to 159 for 16gb in Canada on contract.
As the rumours about 2 new iPhones are getting bigger and the 4s will start for the normal price 199 USD with a plan. What the hell will the 5 cost then?
399 USD with a plan.
I'm budgeting about £500-600 for an iPhone 5 (not 4s...) SIM-free.
It's expensive, but iPhone contracts are terrible.
That is quite expensive![]()
I agree, but iPhone contracts tend to be quite expensive for what they are (not to mention really long...)![]()
dude are u serioulsy trying to predict the future

Wrong. Go check apple.com/store for the unlocked retail price on an ATT phone. You are quoting the subsidized price that the carrier sets. Apple still gets their full price.

But seriously, everyone thinking that the phones cost $199/299 is WHY the carriers get away with all the crap they do. If more people accepted that phone cost $600+ we might have some better plans like Europe does. But they get you in for the $199 and then can charge what they want during the month.

Unless you are switching carriers and need to end your contract, so you don't need to pay the ETF. Just buy the phone and have them switch the info to the new one.
in the UK the iphone 5 will be £300 on a £35 a month contract, it will cost alot.
The iphone 4S will be the same as a iPhone 4, around £200 on £35 a month.
Source?
no source, I was just specualting, my post came across like I was stating a fact, that was my fault.
but seriously the new 'iPhone 5' will most probably cost alot more than the current iPhone 4.
