Yeah... any scratch deep enough to damage the display is caused by pretty severe trauma to the screen.
There was no trauma whatsoever. Im pretty cautious with my phones. But if you doubt me there were countless threads about this when the 6s was released.

I looked for threads involving dead pixels caused by screen scratches, and I found one thread from someone with an iPhone 6 that dropped their phone and received a few scratches and a dead pixel.

Either a significant (and I mean very significant) amount of pressure was applied to the screen or the screen was gouged so thoroughly that a foreign object damaged the display. Those are the only two ways that the glass could cause a dead pixel to form. It's rare, but possible that a dead pixel happened to form where a scratch was located.

See? I'm not the only one or crazy lol. Many people who are careful with their phones got their iPhone 6s plus displays scratched and it never happened with smartphones they've owned before

I'm definitely not saying that the 6s line doesn't get microscratches... in fact, my 6s Plus has quite a few hairline scratches that my previous iPhones didn't. I'm just saying that there probably isn't a connection between microscratches and dead pixels.

I'm not totally sure they were exactly dead pixels, but it was certainly deep enough that it might have caused some kind of reflection from the glass.

That's probably what happened. White screens in particular reveal those reflections quite well.

The iPhone 6s display was a major disappointment to me when it came to scratch protection. Me and my gf went through 3 of them and the result was always the same micro scratches after 1 week of use and deep scratches able to be felt with finger or nail after months of use.

Now I've got a note 7 for more than 1 week and have zero scratches on the display.

I'd rather use an iPhone but only if the iPhone 7 has a better glass this time.

I've found my 6 Plus and 6s Plus to be no more or less scratch resistant than the last few iPhones.

My 10.5 month old 6s plus has more scratches on it than my Note 3 (virtually none) which never had a screen protector and is being used by my three year old to watch videos.

From Apple's website.
"The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone."

Not a single scratch on my naked 6s+, front or back, and that includes a few days in my wife's purse with her keys and god knows what else, while I was in the hospital. The pristine back specifically shocked me, when she gave it back.

Normally my iPhone is alone in its own pocket, same as @eyoungren. You don't get deep gouges without any contact. There's more to this story.

I've had my iPhone 6 for 2 years and it has ONE scratch on the screen from a pretty nasty fall that it took a while back. No case. No screen protector.

There is going to be some variation in the hardness of screens, as well as the environmental conditions they face.
