Well if PM is not an option then the regular Pro maybe. I always felt the PM is a bit too large and heavy for my personal taste. The regular Pro has the Goldilocks Effect for me.If that's the case, this will be the first year ever that I don't buy a new iPhone. Never going back to a Pro Max.
I'd consider a folding phone if it flips rather than folds like a book.
I thought the Air was a silly, stupid flex until I tried one out in the store. I took a chance and bought it, and now I'm a complete convert after several months of use. When will Apple understand that users only care about thinness when it doesn't mean excessive compromises on other aspects such as battery life, heat management, product features, and so on, which it always does.
Users just don't care that much about products being thinner, whether it's laptops, phones, or tablets.
"Thinner" is nice to have, it's not a feature for which I'll pay extra or am willing to accept significant drawbacks in other areas.
No one asked for an Air. It's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.Don’t let this be another “mini” and “Plus” that fails 😭
Agree across the board.I literally feel the same!
I might keep my 17 Pro Max but buy an iPhone Air simply because it’s lighter and thinner. Chargers are available literally everywhere. Home, driving in your car to work/home, having a charger at your work desk.
It’s like I love my 16” M1 Max MBP, but carrying around a 13” MacBook Air is easier and still does the daily tasks.
Well said. When will Apple understand that users only care about thinness when it doesn't mean excessive compromises on other aspects such as battery life, heat management, product features, and so on, which it always does.

I am tired of people saying, no one asked for Air (or x,y,z). You don’t know any such thing. What you are really saying is you wouldn’t buy it so Apple should have never made it. The Apple world doesn’t revolve around you.No one asked for an Air. It's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
It's undoubtedly a beautiful iPhone and feels great in your hand.
Unfortunately, it's completely overpriced!
Here in Germany, you can currently get it for €300 below the official price (€1,199 -> €899).
This clearly shows how poor demand must be.
I would be interested to see a comparison of the sales figures:
iPhone Air vs. iPhone 12/13 mini
Unfortunately, we will never know. 🤷🏻♂️
I don’t miss the cameras on the pro models ( the 16 pro was a gift to a family member who’s an amateur photographer), but most importantly this particular design is the best I’ve seen in a portable device, and unlike previous models, no need to worry about unwanted contact with hard floors: this is the sturdiest iPhone ever made, and it’s the most ergonomic as well.
A second-generation iPhone Air is "not expected this year," according to a Nikkei Asia report today that cites people familiar with Apple's supply chain.
![]()
The report said Apple plans to release an iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone later this year, followed by the base model iPhone 18 in the first half of next year. The report said Apple does have a revamped iPhone Air in the pipeline, but the publication does not expect it to launch until at least 2027.
While one leaker on the Chinese social media platform Weibo has insisted that the iPhone Air will receive a spec bump this year, most reports from sources such as Bloomberg and The Information have pointed to an early 2027 launch. If so, the iPhone Air 2 would likely be released alongside the base model iPhone 18.
Last year, The Information reported that Apple was aiming to add a second rear camera to the next iPhone Air. That report added that the next iPhone Air could weigh less, have a larger battery capacity, and gain a vapor chamber cooling system like the iPhone 17 Pro models have. And Bloomberg expects the device to have a 2nm chip.
While several reports indicated that the iPhone Air has been in low demand, the extreme popularity of the iPhone 17 base model and the iPhone 17 Pro models led iPhone revenue to a new all-time high last quarter, according to Apple.

Agree – single speaker (plus cost) are the main negatives in my book. Otherwise it’s a really nice phone!Put a second speaker in there and I'm super duper interested. It doesn't even need to have the fastest chip.
A second lens would be nice, but that speaker is the deal breaker for me.
In this age of giant phones, I find they all absolutely need a phone grip accessory to use comfortably and securely with one hand (my favorite is the Ohsnap grip). With a phone grip, the Air's lightness and thinness make it a dream to hold--by far the best to hold in the current iPhone lineup.I’d completely forgotten iPhone Air even existed. I’m a mini user, but I’d get the standard iPhone before an Air, it felt horrid when I tried it at launch in a store.
Listen guys. There won't be an Air 2.
What will happen is it will recieve a price cut this September, and an 'Air inspired' regular iPhone model will launch in 2027.
The product is dead
Apple have long development lifecycles and rarely ditch a formfactor after a single generation. The air2 would've been on the roadmap from even before the air1 launched.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the Air2 is already in production. It's not like they pull out 50 million units of a phone the day before the lauch.
Whether or not they actually release it or decide to bury them in the desert next to the many copies of Atari's ET; time will tell.
Interestingly; the air received some price cuts from retailers last month here in aus and were at parity with the regular 17. Unsurprisingly they sold and the glut of air's that were on retailer's shelves are gone.
SO it's entirely a pricing issue which apple can easily pivot on.
