It will be if it doesn't start being a decent phone. The cheapest flip-phone on the market runs rings around an iPhone for actual phone calls. I've lost count of how many calls drop and I've had to use my wife's flip phone. That ain't AT&T's fault.

Will it fall off the map soon eventually

Will the iphone be the next blackberry?

The Blackberry has a much better chance of becoming the next iPhone than the iPhone does of going the same path that BB took

The iPhone changed the smart phone game. Most companies have reacted. Blackberry have not. Therefore they have lost out. I don't see the same happening to Apple.

And if you think Apple has been on top since 11 years ago since the original iPod or iMac. You should rethink and see that actually iPod popularity today is declining so fast now, and ironically it's being eaten alive by its own maker. No more hot events for iPod classic, shuffle and so on. It's all about iOS nowadays.
The only heartbeat sign from iPod today is iPod Touch, which actually almost left out with outdated A4 chip to keep them barely alive, and iPod Nano which receive almost nothing but minor UI tweak.

I think that was partly intentional, and a lot of good foresight from Apple and Steve Jobs. They knew the cell phone had the capability to replace the ipod, and so decided to do it themselves before someone else did. Also to the extent that tablets replace computers, they want to do it themselves before someone else does. It's the same with iCloud. It's intended to replace the "digital hub" concept that Apple's strategy revolved around in the 2000s.

Apple didn't invent the mp3 player either, but they became the one to copy. There's a reason why Google switched their phone mockup from bb style to iphone.

ugh not this one again. This has been disproved many times. There was a slate phone like the iPhone in the development of android before the announcement of the iPhone as well. Not just the keyboard one.
